Fifth Harmony performing 'Anything Could Happen' on The X Factor 2012.
[requested by babysenoritaas]: camila cabello’s best moments - x factor 2012
how do you know that those other bands (union j, stereo kicks) were scouted? (sorry for so many questions😐)
BC they’ve talked about it! Union J’s “how we got put together” story changes every time they talk about it, LOL, and so does OTY’s, and they’re very interconnected. Josh/Jaymi/JJ, as Triple J, were asked to audition for XF via their manager at the time, Blair, who suuuucks and who also managed that terrible 1D wannabe band Overload Generation from last year’s show.
George’s original audition is a little bit of a mystery to me because the timeline with him and Parisa and the original lineup of OTY is, frankly, lied about so often, but George was told to pick whichever boy band he wanted to be in before JH and they’d be put through. He picked Triple J over GMD3.
Stereo Kicks have talked about each individually being asked to audition, either through management at the time or after making it to boot camp on previous XF seasons. Lola from last year claims that they all knew before auditions that they were being put in a band, but tbh I think she’s just bitter that they beat her on a Sunday bottom 2, because none of them have said they knew going into Rooms or Arena about the band. They DID know ahead of time that at least 4 would be put into a band at bootcamp, but weren’t told which/whom (and in the end, it was all 8 anyway).

Time warp!
What do you think of Little Mix's win? I wasn't following the x factor back then and between the people who say the competition is rigged and the ones who say they owed their win to 1D's support at the time I don't know what to think (except that they were damn good and I'm happy they won of course)
I definitely don’t think they owed their win to 1D’s support; if anything, I feel like they won DESPITE 1D’s support, since “boy bands like these girls” tends to be poison to the girls… infuriatingly. I COULD see their success being down to TULISA’S popularity back in 2011? But their year was also SUPER weird because of the whole Frankie Cocozza and Amelia Lily thing changing all of the rankings and plans and whatever.
Also, though, like. Here’s the thing. Louis (Tomlinson, not Walsh) would be a fantastic XF judge. But. His support has kinda killed every act he’s asked people to vote for, because everyone EXCEPT his superfans figures that he has enough influence that they don’t have to vote for that person, and then… they leave.
Like, look at Adam Burridge, Louis’ choice for Wildcard in 2012. He had THE LOWEST voting percentage of all the wildcards that year, and I *think* the lowest voting percentage on a wildcard/etc. in the last like five years?? And Jack Walton this year hung out with Louis A LOT leading into Week 4, and that’s when he left; the week that Louis was photographed with Stereo Kicks was their B2. Frankie Cocozza was kicked out mid-series in 2011 when Louis was super supporting him – WAY more than I feel like 1D vocally supported Little Mix at the time, if I’m remembering things accurately.
And then, like, okay, yes, James Arthur won, but HIS career fuckin’ died at Louis’ hand, so… I don’t know. I feel like saying that anyone earns their place “due to 1D’s support” assumes a lot of power to 1D that they don’t necessarily have.
Like… don’t get me wrong, 1D are very powerful. But that can backfire, too, because if you assume that their power means they’ll get what they want so you don’t have to follow it, then like… idk.
