It’s Good to Have Hobbies
You know, sometimes I feel way too worn out by everyday life to pay attention to my hobbies. I know it’s good for me to do them but I just haven’t gotten around to schedule the time.
But I think I found my inspiration to help me with that:
From Wolverine vol 2 #23
I didn't know how much I really wanted to see this issue until I read it.
The solo series for Teen Scott did a lot in redeeming Corsair as a father, I think. It both allowed him to acknowledge his past mistakes and do a better job comforting and encouraging his son going forward.
But it was still TEEN Scott. Until that point, Corsair's most positive scene involving ADULT Scott involved a camping trip where this happened:
Yep. Chris admittedly has his own issues, but when your recently (re)traumatized child calls you out on abandoning them, the best option probably isn't to backhand him to the ground.
So yeah, while it was good to see Corsair doing much better with baby Scott (and he takes getting called out considerably better this time!), I really wanted to see Corsair trying harder with the adult version.
And I'm thrilled that Krakoa gave that to me. It didn't just give Scott a chance to actually parent his son, it gave him a chance to rediscover a relationship with his father too. And that's just lovely.

We need a comics-only X-Men tag, badly.
I almost exclusively write about X-Men comics, though I use the occasional gif from one of the shows or movies (less so.) On Tumblr there's movies-only folks, X-Men 97 only folks, Evolution only folks, probably video games or mobile games folks, and of course, folks who enjoy more than one/all to varying degrees. I'm not talking about ship wars or which is better, I'm saying it's difficult to find the content you want AND tag it correctly for the right audience. It's only going to get more difficult once the XMCU kicks off, so I propose a tag for X-Men comics only posts/writing. We'd be building a social contract from scratch, but it's been done before.
I think leaving shipping out of it is wise, because the fic websites and shipping communities have it sorted and we need to follow suit. I've got a shortlist of tags that are never/rarely going to be used by accident, and hopefully are intuitive. I wanted it to not be something era specific, but I don't see Krakoa getting adapted and it has a few unique phrases. I want this to reach people who feel the same and want your opinion too. I'll do one poll, then the winner of that can go up against the best of the rest. Please tag anyone who's also comics only or comics primarily.

Reading X-Terminators, by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, part of the Inferno omnibus. I adore Tabitha, she's a riot. easily my favorite member of the team so far, alongside Takeshi.
Sweat. Too much sweat. Everything is warm. Too warm.
He can smell everything so strongly, as if every scent is intensified. Any every noise is dialed to eleven.
The lightbulb, above the bathroom sink he's desperately clinging to, makes an almost imperceptible flicker. It feels like someone took a sledgehammer straight to his temple.
He tries to reach up, his fingers trembling, to sooth the throbbing. Instead his numb fingers touch the smooth metal of his visor.
His visor.
The realisation, remembering that he's on a mission, has a job to do, it's almost worse. People are depending on him, the mission is depending on him. All of his kind are depending on him.
He has to keep it together, he has to, he's always had to. He's their leader. He's the leader. The only one they got right now and he cannot let them down, can't let anyone down. Not again.
He cannot let it show, could never let it show. How exhausted he is, how powerless he feels against everything that has happened and is still happening, that is always happening and repeating. How his body feel like it is attacking him, how his senses feel like they're choking him.
Breathe in, hold, then breathe out. He returns to the role he's been given, the masks he has had to wear all his life.
Scott is a Revolutionary, a Survivor, a Leader, an X-Men, the X-Men. Cyclops steps out of the bathroom, his breathing even and his expression serious but controlled.
And everyone who looks at him sees one thing clearer than anything, Cyclops never falters.
If only somebody could see him, Scott thinks.
