Where I cover Magneto and Magneto adjacent subjects. Focus is primary the comics. You are more than welcome to make fanfiction or art off of any theories, plot bunnies, or headcannns I post about. Just tell me about it because I would love to see it!
I'm not a shipper myself but I'm also not a hater. I just like a good story with my fav character.
Magneto had 2 lines and one of them was "pah!" There was no disagreement, Max was just being a Debbie Downer. Is that Max's role in X-Men United now? You could have taken him out of the issue completely and nothing would change.
I bought it because I'm a completionist and I like Eve Ewing. But if I was looking only for significant or even slightly significant Magneto appearances, this would be skippable.
As the X-Men struggle against the mysterious machinations of the Danger Room, help comes from an unexpected direction! But with the forces arrayed against them, can the X-Men hope to prevail?

I was so tickled by this comic I recently bought that I had to take some picture of some panels and share.
This is an interesting collaboration between Marvel and the Dallas Times Herald, the Uncanny X-Men at the State Fair of Texas. In which, a new mutant appears in Dallas and it's a race between the X-Men and Magneto to recruit him!
I love how there were instructions for reading comics back then.
This is a special challenge for Magneto however, as he has to pretend to care about horses in order to recruit this new mutant! Can he do it?
lol no.
This issue is really interesting in a couple of ways: it's an advertisement for a local event (the Texas State Fair), it fits more with the team roster that's shown in X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills instead of the roster of the ongoing series, and Kitty Pryde has the short lived codename of Ariel.
The issue starts with the X-Men training in the Danger Room. One of that things that struck me was the resemblance of these scenes to the Danger Room scene in Pryde of the X-Men. Professor X is dressed the same as his appearance there, the roster is the same except for Dazzler, and costumes are the same. Other similarities include Colossus demonstrating his power vs a battering ram, Storm conjures a mini tornado, and Nightcrawler teleporting into the control room. Kitty is watching from the control room just like in Pryde of the X-Men, but unlike Pryde of the X-Men she is already in costume and is not a newbie.
They are interrupted by Cerebro detecting a new mutant. From there, they race to Dallas to find the new mutant before Magneto does.
The new mutant is found -not by the X-men but by a mysterious figure!
Hmmm, I wonder who this mysterious figure could be...
Daniel Wiley gives the mysterious figure his origin story.
Can you believe that there are still people who don't see the queer/minority parallels in X-Men?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this might be the first time Magneto's casual attire is shown to be a trench coat and hat.
The X-Men go to the state fair to look for Daniel but don't find him. They resolve to try again at the Cotton Bowl the next day. For those who don't know, the Cotton Bowl is the name of the stadium in Dallas as well as an annual college football game. The stadium is in the same location as the state fair. Turns out that going to the Cotton Bowl the next day is a good idea because Daniel and Magneto are there.
"A fellow horselover" Okay Mags.
They book it as soon as Magneto sees Professor X, Colossus, and... Ariel in her mask still? Magneto here has the same energy as Bender from Futurama yelling "Cheese it!"
They manage to lose the X-Men with the exception of Ariel who phases to catch up to them. She's been itching to prove herself to be among the X-Men so it totally makes sense in story for her to appear by herself in front of Magneto - who promptly throws a motorcycle at her!
or your face, Kitty!
However, in continuity this makes less sense. This was released between Uncanny X-Men vol 1 #174 and #175. In Uncanny X-Men vol 1 #150, Magneto is only defeated by his remorse at hurting Kitty and yet here he is throwing a motorcycle at her. Something that could have killed her! You can make the argument that he didn't recognize Kitty or that he knew that she would phase, but it's just one of the many things you have to explain away to make this fit in continuity.
It would be way easier to say that this story exists outside of continuity but I don't want it to. This comic is corny and fun and I like it! I want it to be canon!
As they run away, Magneto is shown thinking "I must not have a confrontation with the X-Men until Daniel is mine!" Ariel sees Daniel runs off to the horse barn. She later returns with the X-Men interrupting Magneto as he explains his side to Daniel.
"All we want to do is talk." Man, you sound like a cop.
It's actually believable that Daniel (later given the code name Eques by Magneto) would believe that the X-Men are the bad guys. Mutants are usually painted by the media as bad during this time. I wish there were more stories about how media paints a narrative about groups and how those in power benefit from it. But that's a rant for another day.
The art in this comic is way better than it has any right to be
This part doesn't really make sense to me. Daniel has seen Magneto use his power before. Couldn't Daniel see that it's the same force as what's attacking them now. I guess it's reasonable to assume that someone without combat experience wouldn't have the presence of mind to piece that together during a high pressure situation. Nitpick aside, this is a great scene. I love how theatrical Magneto is being.
Professor X shouts out loud at the X-Men (instead of using his powers) not to hurt Daniel as he is just "an innocent dupe." Daniel is rightly insulted and attacks. Magneto makes short work of Wolverine and Colossus by throwing them up to the ceiling of the barn. Colossus actually crashes through and Magneto and Eques follows.
It's only when Magneto decides to throw Colossus back to the barn as a living missile that Daniel sees that Magneto has been lying to him. Obviously, anyone who would endanger horses is an evil person.
You only had to care about horses just a little bit longer Mags, smh
Attacked by Eques, Magneto is body slammed to the ground and kicked by Big Tex.
You literally got your ass kicked Mags. How embarrassing.
With Magneto gone, Daniel invites the X-Men to enjoy the Texas State Fair. But wait - how did the X-Men get Big Tex to kick Magneto?
Made a trip today to a comic books store that has a lot of old comics and graded comics. Love that shop! I was hoping to find some early X-Men and Avengers comics with Magneto but only managed to snag Avengers #47!
Since that was the only early Magneto appearance I could find, I looked for any early appearances for Polaris. And jackpot!
Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Fun by Jeffrey Brown
This was released yesterday and it's so frickin' cute! So I had to get it. I'm just going to post the panels that Magneto is in since this is a Magneto blog.
Shout out to @wwprice1 for posting about this or I would have missed it completely.
SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY ISSUE!
From the previews we see that Magneto is in X-Men #25 that is out this Wednesday, at least for a couple of panels. There is a throwaway comment about Magneto being mad that he missed out on fighting Nazis. I liked that. And maybe I’m reaching but the Nazis on panel look a lot like homeland security. If that’s intentional, I’m down with it.
My only nitpick of the preview is Magneto’s dialogue. McKay hasn’t nailed Magneto’s voice in my opinion. He tries too hard to make him sound haughty. Which Magneto can definitely be, but there’s nothing colorful about describing someone as underground. I’m sure if we go through the last 63 years that Magneto has been around, we’ll find him saying the same thing.
It’s such a small nitpick compared to my bigger gripe, which is that Magneto has been underutilized on this team and the ridiculous RLDS storyline.
May 2026 solicits are out and Max is on the cover of X-Men United #3: https://aiptcomics.com/2026/02/09/marvel-comics-may-2026-x-men-solicitations/
Solicit text and thoughts under the cut for those concerned about spoilers
Since a field squad of Melee, Jitter and Laura Kinney accompanied Captain America on a covert mission to right a wrong from his past, nothing has gone as planned, and the squad meets their match with a mutant foe who might not ever let them get home. Meanwhile, a shadow descends over Graymatter Lane… And the Beast and Magneto have an explosive difference of opinion!
Max is out of the chair? In the preview to X-Men United primer issue, we can see Max and he's still in the chair.
So does that mean between issue #1 and #3 something happened? Is that thing what caused the difference in opinion between Hank and Max? I am so intrigued.
In Tom Brevoort’s latest interview with AIPTcomics, he speaks a bit about Magneto:
“Also, we’ll certainly see some more Magneto stuff coming up. Obviously, we started to drop a big hint that some people seem very obsessed with in Age of Revelation. So we’ll see what that’s all about and get some more Magneto back into the mix as 2026 goes on.”
It’s a weird add-on to the end of interview, so I don’t know what to make of it. But it’s something at least.
Plus, an eXclusive look at scenes from the "Shadows of Tomorrow" X-Men series!
So, Magneto's helmet is shown laying on the ground with smoke coming out of it in the cover of X-Men #23.
cover of X-Men vol 7 #23
I know that covers lie but sometimes not entirely. That means something happens with Magneto in this issue, right? And I want to know so bad! Like I really, really, really want to know but there have been no spoilers posted that I can find.
So this is my prediction for what happens to Magneto in X-Men #23. It's out tomorrow so I can updated this with how wrong I am.
In AoR, we are told that Magneto never had issues with his powers and RLDS isn't a thing. Maybe in this issue, it's reviled that the person we think is Magneto is not Magneto. Astra is with the 3K, she could have a clone in place acting like Magneto. RLDS would be a way to sabotage and spy on the team. Plus it would explain any power differences or inexperience with his powers. The original Magneto has been captured by the 3K.
I kind of hate that it would nullify From the Ashes: Marvel Infinity #13 & #14 (available on Marvel Unlimited and published in X-Men: Tooth and Claw #1). And It does mean I would have to make yet another entry in my spreadsheet tracking Magneto doppelgangers. But it would be worth it if we get a Magneto that more closely aligns with the end of Resurrection of Magneto .
Before I get into X-Men #23, can I rant for a moment?
I really don't like most decompression storytelling in comic books. Maybe it reads well in graphic novels but as someone who picks up single issues to read, it often leaves me feeling unsatisfied. It feels as if nothing really happened in the issue itself. I don't hold it against the writers as I know that sometimes the decision to write this way is editorial, but still....
Anyways, on to X-Men #23.
So in regards to Magneto, nothing new has been revealed in this issue. It was previously established during AoR that no one had any memories of Magneto having R-LDS. All this issue does is show Future!Scott reacting to a powerless Magneto. It suggest that AoR is probably a different timeline.
I did like the interactions between Max and Scott. Max putting his helmet so that he can have a private interaction with Future!Scott (while complaining that Quentin always shouts his psychic messages). At the same time he tells Future!Scott is nothing like the Scott that Max as known since he was a boy. I'm a sucker for any hint of a familiar relationship between those two. I should make scenes between the two into a series.
@skullcat23-blog posted part of the interaction here if you're interested.

So there you go. A whole nothing burger when it comes to Magneto, in my opinion.
