If Superman was an X-Mutant

In a hypthetical DC x Marvel Fusion crossover au, I remember hearing at one point someone had an idea of making Clark a X-Men style mutant. Which seems interesting, so I wonder what power should be based on the X-Gene and not naturally Kryptonian in a good sun?

I feel like in theory you can make an argument between the TK Flight, so say Connor the Superboy and his Tactile telekinesis is now like mutant inheritance and it could go with Superman seeming to have an ability to be say "hope boosted" as in his mutation is both figuratively and literally allowing his dreams to take flight.

There's also an argument for the Element Powers since while you could argue Ice Breathe being internal cooling, I'm almost certain it hasn't just been these three. Also it'd make him like the mutant Avatar Aang or Korra style

Anyway, other thoughts on this movie and the discourse surrounding it.

"M'Baku was emasculated" Nah, not at all. "Why didn't he take the throne from Ramonda?" Why would he do that? He's not a man spirited person and he doesn't hate T'Challa or his family, he just disagreed with T'Challa's leadership. At the time of the blip, when Ramonda probably first took over as queen, it was probably more necessary for M'Baku to stand in solidarity with the queen to support a grieving country who had literally lost millions of people. When everyone blipped back, T'Challa was king, again. Then, when T'Challa died, he probably didn't challenge anything out of respect for the dead. M'Baku is very traditional, and he would never want to disturb Wakanda by staging what would essentially be a coup. During challenge day, he knew he was within his rights to challenge for the throne. That's why he showed up at Shuri's challenge day (and she likely gave it over to him, anyway.)

"How am I supposed to believe a tiny, skinny girl can beat up a god/mutant" My bothers and sisters in Christ, Shuri is a superhero. Like, with powers. Did y'all forget Steve Rogers was a 98 pound weakling? And that Peter Parker was a skinny 14 year old boy? Neither of them got significant training on how to be a superhero, they just got enhanced. When Shuri takes the herb, she's enhanced. No training necessary.

And also, she's fought in battles before! She was fighting in Black Panther, and she fought in the final battle in Endgame. Girl can fight, even without the herb, but with it... she's stronger and faster than Captain America. Remember that the super soldier serum is an inferior copy of what the heart shaped herb can do.

Also, it seems like nobody is excited enough about Namor being a confirmed mutant and what that means for the X-gene! He's 500 years old, and was born a mutant. That means that the X-gene in the MCU has been around for at least that long, likely longer because he likely inherited it from one or both parents. That means ANY NUMBER OF MUTANTS ARE CURRENTLY ALIVE IN THE MAIN MCU! THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY MULTIVERSE MUMBO JUMBO! They can just say that the Mutants have been living under the radar, like Namor has been. They can have existed as urban legends, myths, rumors, like Namor was to the people in the Yucatan. Idk about y'all, but I'm so excited for the possibilities! And I hope we get a better cinematic version of Storm than we've gotten in a long time! (Still team DeWanda Wise!)

I've thought about it and I think I've figured out why I can't seem to fully invest myself in X-Men stories. My biggest issue with X-Men is that all mutation is caused by one specific "X-gene". It always seems to have the overarching message that mutants and humans cannot coexist at all, and need to have their own separate nations like Genosha or Krakoa. This seems ridiculous when you realize that mutants get born to non-mutant parents all the time and vice-versa, the only way to truly enforce this separation would probably just be eugenics. The X-gene concept overall just feels kinda outdated, a relic from a time when people didn't understand genetics as well as we do now. Now, I had a concept on how to fix that. It would probably have to be a different canon because it's pretty radical, but it's something I would love to see explored. A world where there is NOT a single "X-gene" but tons of different genetic variables that could lead to mutation. The reason I like this better is because it totally blurs the line about what counts as a mutant in the first place. Do you have to be born with powers to be a mutant, or do people who manifest them later count? Does someone born with a disability count as a mutant? What about someone born with a "gift" like once-in-a-generation brilliance? In this canon I also think parallels need to be emphasized between mutation and disability. I mean, these two things are already pretty linked in the main Marvel canon. Cyclops needs special eyewear to function because of his brain damage, Magneto is prone to seizures if he overuses his powers, Destiny lost the ability to see when her powers showed up, etc. Not to mention being stigmatized as dangerous and needing to be eradicated or fixed in a way that is eerily reminiscent of how neurodiversity is often treated by society. Tl;dr: The concept of a single "X-gene" seems outdated and less interesting that treating mutant as a really broad category of people with special abilities.

What if Wanda Maximoff really DID get rid of the X-gene and people like furries, cosplayers and those that just feel like they’re missing ‘something’ are the people who SHOULD be mutants?

So the X-gene (the mutant gene) is a recessive gene right?

It’s been shown multiple times, that two non-mutant parents can have a mutant child. That’s more than canon at this point. 

Then can someone tell me how the fuck Graydon Creed a man born from TWO mutant parents ended up not having it!? It should be literally impossible, if the x-gene is really as recessive as Marvel likes to say it is.

Unless a certain woman lied about paternity. Which is very unlikely, but not impossible. Or the x-gene is a recessive-dominate mix or something of that nature. He shouldn’t be a human, it would be like two people with O- blood having a baby with A+ blood.

Just a random thought here but:

If Wanda and Pietro got their power's from hydra experimentation, then how does Tommy have the same power as Pietro.

I know that Wanda already had the ability to wield magic and hydra only gave her the telepathy and stuff. But I'd always assumed Pietro got his powers from hydra.

Now I think he already had them and that hydra just activated his x-gene (possibly the same for wanda)

Which would explain why Tommy has super speed. Because if the abilities were specifically from hydra then wanda wouldn't have been able to have a child with those powers.

Unless it was genetic and they are mutants.
