~ Byway of the Moon ~
I love me a good vampire AU....
City lights were a drain -a kaleidoscope which hypnotised those that searched for an adventure. Which she knew. Always floating to the brightest of the neon centers. An unsatisfactory conclusion that lead to disappointment, the life she knew slowly slipping away as she wove her way out of night clubs and penthouses that grasped for the stars.
But tonight her eyes had acquired a view unlike any other. The thinnest wisps of silver dashing by as she exited the dance floor. Ultear never knew love but she wanted to now. Her hips swaying from one partner to the next as she searched for the right bob of hair. Each color determining her newfound distaste in the hues that shone upon the floor. Every beat making her heart palpitate faster. Closing in on the slim body that was whisked behind an exit door.
A hand closed around her wrist but she pulled away. Whoever vied for attention could find it elsewhere as she grasped the handle. Stepping into a veil of obscurity, looking to and fro for the moonbeam that had briefly caught her eye.
The echo of her heels dimming the night sound. Ultear feined as she walked further. Surely her drink wasn’t a cocktail of absinthe.
“And what are you looking for?” Ultear’s eyes never deceived her, turning toward the sultry tone.
Though the girl was far from what she expected. The moon only crescent to her toturously paled essence. Shining brighter than any other brash neon sign; a comparison she couldn’t ring true to.
She brushed a lock behind her ear, sauntering to the bricks she leaned on. The words on her tongue failing to comply as she strode, “Your name.”
Notes of laughter ringing as she keeled over. “That’s going to cost you.”
Ultear was faulted as she looked at her attire. Clothes that were easy to slide under -or ripped from her bodice. And she frowned at the thought of those who abused her beauty.
“I think not. How about a question for a question?” She gave a half-hearted smile, inching ever so closer. Even she wouldn’t be able to deny such a compromise. Ultear pulled her clutch back as a creamy hand reached for it. Frowning as her counterpart’s lips quirked. Pressing the matter ever so slightly. “I take that as a yes?”
“It’s Angel. You have enough money for a drink?” The fullness of her lips perpetuated with soft dimples. Eyes batting as her hand slowly trailed up her arm.
Ultear looked down upon her, playing her own game. Bowing her head so her lips brushed against her ear. “Your real name, dear.”
Involuntarily shivering as her nails brushed against the nape of her neck; slender as they brought her closer. “Call me Sorano then,” caught wide-eyed as her own name fell from her lips, “Ultear.”
Her gasp taken as her lips were covered. Ultear’s previous version of reality thrown as a pair of too sharp teeth danced down the column of her throat.
