Supporter reward for LegendOfJan of Xalianas' character Xali.
@ginnymusings
A slime appears!
Well, this isn't exactly Dragon Quest where they attack you out or nowhere, but this one seems just as silly with how they're jiggling and wiggling playfully. And is very lady shaped, too. She seems to be just having some good fun, not even aware of anyone else's presence at the moment.
A very yellow and pink gradient slime lady shimmying around and cozily, very unaware of the attention she's caught from an approaching figure for the moment. Jiggle, jiggle. Wiggle, wiggle.
Happy Storyteller Saturday!!! Who is your favorite OC in every WIP or past story (that you feel like talking about)?
Storyteller Saturday!
aldfkjsldkgsldg every, EVERY past story!! OH. OKAY.
One Siren’s Soul: Xuân is still really high up there among the favourites, probably especially because I’ve been working a lot with her recently, but some of that favouritism is from the fact that she’s based on a previous favourite character of mine, Green Zircon!
They were both rather chaotic, and very cocky.
The Dark’s Treasured Glow: I know they’re the main character but I legitimately turned this tiny story idea into an entire wip because I loved them so much so. Xali! Is so darn neat! Blind enby teen who works as a mechanic/technician at their local tech repair, built themselves a headset that gives them varying different pitches and tones of sound to mimic the distance between them and whatever is directly in front of them!! But then they also altered it past what was allowed so they can now hack stuff. Uh. Which might not be quite legal. ^^’ BUT IT’S SO COOL. Also they get a friend moth dragon!
Those are the two current wips, but if I’m looking back at previous (dropped) stories of mine, I have a few favourites!
Dragon’s Fountain: Pine Tree is one of them. He's a child “ranger” that “earned” that name because he was mistaken as a pine tree by the main character because of his green cloak and ~general sneakiness~ Also before you say anything, I was 10 when I made this character up---Gravity Falls didn’t exist yet. I... uh... never came up with what this kid’s name really was. ^^’
Soul Tied: Elliot is another! He’s a 4-year-old shape-shifter who’s other form is a orange tabby kitten. He’s entirely non-verbal (and possibly autistic---I didn’t realize at the time, but looking back at his character he probably is), a terribly curious trouble-maker, and just about the bane of Sean (the main character)’s existence because he’s constantly put on baby-sitting duty. XD
Thanks for the ask! This got some memories churning around~
This shit is BEYOND underrated. I bet ya boy would approve. >:)
Happy Storyteller Saturday! Which comes first when you start brainstorming a new WIP, the big picture, or the small? A broad conceptual pitch, or a small snip of dialogue/emotionally-charged scene?
Storyteller Saturday!
Usually what ends up happening is that I get the broad conceptual bit first: I knew wanted to write a pirate and magic adventure story, for One Siren’s Soul!
But the very next thing that happens is that I get a set of very specific scene ideas, everything down to the position of the characters, the colours and ambience, sometimes even dialogue, and what the scene would look like in a movie! These scenes usually get included in the first draft, and I’m thinking will likely make it to the final product, typically with very little difference from the initial concept!
One of these scenes is the one where Celestine is rescuing Phoenix (from what I can not say~ >u>), where Dione is finally curing Colin’s curse, and where Xuân first shows up!
For The Dark’s Treasured Glow, it initially started with me wanting to write a sci-fi with dragon-like creatures on another planet, one with near zero light from above, and only light from bioluminescent creatures, plants and fungi! Above the cloud layer that prevented solar lighting, I knew there was going to be a floating human city, solarpunk themed~
And the scene that sparked most of it was the one where Xali frees one of those dragon-like creatures from mind imprisonment, causing it to attempt to escape---dragging Xali down below the clouds to the surface in the process.
Thanks for the ask!
Quill! Happy STS! What would the perfect gift be for some of your main characters?
Hey mate! Happy Storyteller Saturday. ^u^
I actually answered this question for the main cast of OSS before, you can find that here! But for the fun of it, here’s some responses for The Dark’s Treasured Glow crew:
Xali, like Celestine, would love a new set of good quality mechanics tools for their work! Or some new mods for their headset. Also new magic cards or other things for magic tricks that they can mess around with? Xali likes to mess with people too much.
Ella would love some new stationary for drawing with! Pens or ink or paper would be wonderful for her~
Zeke loves getting warm things. Get him some new fuzzy socks, there ya go. Or a nice new book to read!
I’m still in the early process of developing these characters, so things are bound to change, but that’s what I can come up with at the moment! Thanks for the ask~ c:
Random but oh well: Starset is one of my all time favourite bands and they came out with a new album recently that I’ve been listening to non-stop.
Trials is now one of Xali’s themes, and I am now wanting to start developing The Dark’s Treasured Glow again despite being in the midst of OSS’ ending. Hhhhnghhh
BUT IT’S SO GOOD AH
[late] Storyteller Saturday — Is there a specific character trait that you find yourself always putting into at least one of your characters? Whether intentionally or not?
Ahahh, happy Storyteller Saturday nonetheless!
I didn’t actually recognize it until more recently but, stutters! I guess the way I write dialogue seems more natural to some people because of that, and of course it’s different for each character how much and why they stutter, but it’s definitely there! That’s like... with most of my characters to be honest.
I’ve not had many projects but I will say that both Celestine and Xali (the two sorta mainish protagonists of the two stories) are both mechanically interested/skilled? Also parkour. I dunno mate I just like parkour.
There’s also always gonna be a character with ADHD or ADHD like symptoms because. Me. I can’t always help that, I didn’t start recognizing some of my characters had that until more recently and then I was like... ah. Right. Okay. XD
So yeah! Thank you for the ask~
