Greetings everyone! Winter breaks have started and obviously that's very great and I'm happy about it. But, given that I don't really have any plans, I'm hoping I can get a few suggestions as to hobbies I could perhaps preoccupy myself with during these times? I already do draw and write a little, but I was wondering if any of you have any ideas as to what else I could do? I'm a very creative person and I just want to create/craft things yet I find myself void of ideas at the moment. - Xephia
As a gardener m’self, I often find myself without much to when the snow gets deep and I’m stuck in me hobbit hole. These days, with Rosie and the kids around, I’m never short of things to do, but back when I was on me own I had to come up with some ideas of me own.
Mister Frodo always used to spend his spare time writing, or drawing out the maps from his old books. I never saw the use in copying out pictures I already had but Mister Frodo always found it relaxing. Maybe try that yourself? You never know, you might learn something useful in the process.
I like doing practical things m’self, like cooking, or building something. I made my Rose and Goldilocks a doll house the other year! It was blasted fiddly to make the tiny chairs and tables, but they don’t half love it! Perhaps you could build something yourself, that you might find useful in the future, or least to look pretty in your house.
I’m told that in your days you have hundreds more places to get ideas than what we do in the Shire. When I was building the doll house, I had to wander over to the neighbours in the snow every time I got stuck, so I am very jealous of you! Take stock of all the materials you can get to, and have a search to see what other people have done.
You know your talents better than I do Xephia, so you know what you’re going to be best at. Though definitely don’t stick to that! Maybe take up something brand new like sewing or pottery and see how good you can get.
I hope you make something super exciting, and do let me know if you have any successes.
