Round 1 Prompt (Uploaded with permission of Judges):

Everyone had arrived and settled into Xotiathon, and the following morning, the first round announcement was broadcasted to their ICH robots.

The robots projected holographic screens captioned in every competitor’s native language, with accompanying streamed images of the three judges to match as their spoken words were translated.

 [Slica icon] “Hi, everyone! Round one is going to start right after breakfast. Please gather in the dome once you’ve eaten.”

[Suls icon] “This round isn’t paired; we’re going to be passing you based on the half who finish first. It’s pretty much a race! With some obstacles, of course; so don’t think you speedsters necessarily have the advantage!”

[Janie icon] “The aquatic ones among you will be able to swim, but there will be hazards in the water too.”

[Slica icon] “Good luck, everyone! Get hyped for Xotiathon!” With Slica’s last words, the screens blinked out and the transmission ended.

ROUND ONE RULES:

To win this round, you must show your character overcoming at least two of the tournament’s obstacles and crossing the finish line.

The exact nature of these obstacles is up to you, but the basic setup involves a giant pool with dry paths running across the top of it - and plenty of space to swim underneath or around them.

Land racers may experience paths shifting apart or rising, while aquatic ones might experience random whirlpools or waves.

You may invent your own hazards within reason. Nothing explicitly deadly such as lasers or death traps is permitted. Only nonlethal, inconveniencing obstacles are allowed, such as having walls rise up.

The finish line is at the other end of the pool, and the first half of the competitors to cross it are the ones who will pass to round two. The ones who fall behind will fail.

While this is not a paired round, competitors may choose to sabotage their fellows if they wish, though it will cost them time they could be using to move forward if they consider it worth the risk. However you may not show other characters winning, losing, dying, or acquiring injuries in case it will conflict with that competitor’s own canon.

Auditions closed Oct 10th, 2017!! Round Prompt (uploaded with Judges permission): 

Rules: • Your character reference must be accepted before you are allowed to submit audition pages. Visit the Character References journal for more information. • Show your character arriving at Xotiathon Stadium. The stadium is a big shiny dome with lights lining the edges. There is a space port attached to the side of it. Various flags decorate the walls. • Show your character registering with the Xotiathon staff: Slica, Suls and Janie. They need to have their paperwork with them that shows they were already registered to participate. • Once registered, your character will be given an ICH robot of their own. Finally finished!!

That project that had taken priority over xanxor, finally over!! It’s called Xotiathon! It’s this thing called an “Original Character Tournament” or OCT for short! The premise is that you create a character to compete in a series of alien Olympics for a naturally occurring recourse to save their dying homeworld!

Many people enter and are then paired off against one-another and are eliminated in typical bracket-fashion until there is a 1-v-1 round to determine the winner! Along the way you build your character’s personality, story, and world while also getting the chance to use your various opponents characters to expand your story as well as theirs! 

Xotiathon started with 32 people and has had 5 rounds, each lasting at least 8 weeks, with the final showdown between myself and https://www.deviantart.com/techn0gecko ! I’ve been so lucky to have had the chance to not only compete with the amazing people from this group, but also had the chance to create a completed story with my own OC’s! It’s been an amazing feeling. The winner will be announced on the 31st of December, 2018!!!!!

Over the course of the past 13 months I’ve managed to create 161 comic pages for the competition. I’m going to start submitting them slowly through tumblr, but if you DM me I’ll link you to the already uploaded pages.

Each round comes with a unique prompt and (typically) a unique opponent and their character(s)! My characters being:

Terence! Paridon and competitor for Lanet!  Terry is a model back home with a heart of gold! He loves nothing more than his people and seeing to their well-being. He believes to love others you must first love yourself, and he has that down to an art. Met Pox at ~13y, is now 22. 

 Joined by:  Pox! Advisor to Terence and companion of nearly 10 years! Very professional appearance and handles the business side of matters. Where Terence is the heart, Pox is the mind! Since they are an agendered being, they replicate through mitosis. They have a general dislike of salt.

I realized I never posted the quarterfinalist heads I drew on here, so here they are. Along with the semifinalists. These are only about three months apart but I’d like to think I can see some improvement, despite how careful I have to be with how much I draw these days.

Keeping track of your co-judge and making sure people don’t murder them bc they have no common sense is a chore.
