It hurts. It hurts it hurtithurtshurtshurts please no more, he’ll listen, he’ll be good. He’ll come back, stop running away. He was disobeying, the Master had to know. He could feel it dragging at him, pulling him away from feeling solid. It was like the edge of the Master’s Keyblade was digging into him, over and over again. The harsher punishment, the blade cutting deep. He’d failed again, tried to run away, been found. He would be left hurt and bleeding and it was his fault, always his fault, he should have listened he should know better he’d been taught better he-
He hadn’t heard Ven’s voice at all, not until the light started seeping in, not until he was being held - gently, no sharp rain of blows or strikes from a sword or the sharp pain of magic. He hadn’t realized he’d been crying, he couldn’t remember crumpling to the ground. It hurts. The light helps, but the sting still echoes. He isn’t sure how to speak it. The Master… wasn’t there?
“Hurts. Thought…” He couldn’t utter the name. “Thought he was here. Punish. Disobedience, running away. Hurts.” He… didn’t feel like he was bleeding, though? What was going on?
✣ 「 ヴェン」 ❦❧ ─ “.......” There’s little words the blond Keyblade Master can say... Xehanort had been a cruel man, a cruller Master, and he knew this... that ugly marred of burnt scar of a branding on his lower back, always remains, never healed from the damaged skin, the reminder of what had happened and it was real. Ventus understood ever so clear how Vanitas felt, the trauma never leaves... only overcome with time. Love, tender and healing. It was the only thing the Wind Master can do, give Vanitas plenty of light and love. Pulling the shaking raven toward him, and hugged him tight, warming and gentle light wrapped around him, soothing and caressing him. Ventus had plenty of light to spare after all.
“It’s okay, Vanitas. The mental trauma and physical abuse will never go away, we will always remember it. But I believe in you, like I have, you can overcome this.” Pulling away, and even holding onto Vanitas’ face, to look at him. Look at him in the eyes, gold meeting with sapphire blue. Tot he face of a much older Ventus --not the Ventus that is from this Vanitas-- love, huh.... the Master didn’t know much about love, he’d never experience true love himself, so maybe... maybe Vanitas might be able to feel the love... through this.
A K i s s . ... a soft petal touch of a kiss, lips on lips.
It was brief, ghostly touch enough, giving his other half a warm and loving look. “I know it hurts. But I’m here for you. You don’t have to run away anymore. I’ll be here for you.” Unlike how his own Ventus couldn’t be here for him, that one version of him died... so he’ll do it, he’ll be the one to correct the wrong. Make it all right. “I’ll protect you, Vanitas.”
