Already extremely displeased about having to be awake at the asscrack of dawn to be present for this shitty experiment, the Captain's mood had since been deteriorated further by the less than ideal outcome. It was just as he'd suspected, that the brat really had no control over this so-called titan power. He hadn't bet any chips on that hand anyway. He was, however, bound by authority and orders to accompany Hange on this task, and no arguments would be made despite the resentment he felt for the situation.
It was almost laughable, to look down into that well that was meant for "containment" only to find Eren gnawing his hands off. Levi had no clue what went into becoming a titan, and quite frankly he had no desire to learn. Titans were the enemy to human kind, and all he was content with knowing about them was how to kill them. The only thing that kept Levi stimulated during the course of the experiment was the thought that he was merely on standby for eradication if necessary.
As the day drew to a close, Eren and the other members of Levi's squad had taken a much needed break, but not before bandaging the brat's hands. Useless, since, hypothetically, it would heal soon anyway. Levi distanced himself from the group at the table, not wishing to be a part of any conversation or stumble upon anything he didn't want to know. A cup of tea was shared between him and Petra instead, as he debated ranting to her or keeping silent about everything. A moment of solitude interrupted by a gut shaking explosion, and a dangerous rush of heat.
Jumbled shouts drowned by the hissing of steam could only mean one thing: that the brat had finally, unintentionally succeeded in becoming a titan-- but something was off. The environmental signs of a titan were lacking, and a big enough alarm was not raised. Petra slipped from his side in a flash, and soon the angry snarls of his squad members hit his ears. Lowering the teacup which had been halfway to his lips, Levi's face contorted for a split second into a grimace before he turned to face the scenario which would genuinely shock him.
Auruo, Gunther and Erd were solidly on the defence, Auruo with blades brandished at what appeared to be an arm shaped of flesh. There was no 14 meter titan body, as Levi had been informed of, only that deformed thing. But even Levi, dead set on his disbelief in the young boy, was forced to dispel the animosity, for all it appeared to be in his eyes was an unfortunate accident. No one was hurt, and even he couldn't be found to be ignorant to it.
