Yafo is a Hebrew word meaning beautiful. It is anglicized “Jaffa,” and Arabized “Yaffa.”

It is the Hebrew name for a city built by the Hebrews (and their Canaanite ancestors).

Tel Aviv and Yafo are right next to each other, so they are now considered one metropolitan area known as Tel Aviv-Yafo.
