Why does Nina Aquila wear an eyepatch?

It’s been on my mind ever since I first learned about this character. I know little about the series Nina Aquila Legal Eagle, so I don’t know if there’s some plot reason for why she wears that eyepatch. If so, you can tell me.

But what about in terms of character design? Nina Aquila has long, white/silver hair, wears an eyepatch on her right eye, and a business suit. The outfit aside, the hair color and eyepatch are what caught my attention.

Based on her hair and eyepatch, Nina Aquila reminded me of Senran Kagura character Yagyu.

Their designs might be different, but Yagyu is the first to come to my mind when I look at Nina Aquila. But unfortunately, there’s no evidence that would support my claim that Nina’s design is derived from Yagyu. I only know that Nina Aquila Legal Eagle is an indie game series inspired after Ace Attorney, but what about her appearance? I get that she’s a lawyer, but why the eyepatch? Is it plot related?

In Yagyu’s case, her eyepatch is far more interesting. She wears an eyepatch for two reasons. First, Yagyu’s eyepatch is part of a ribbon that belonged to her deceased sister and she wears it so that she’ll never forget about her sister. Second, the character is named after the one-eyed samurai, Yagyu Jubei.

In the end, I’m sure it’s just a big coincidence that both of these characters have eyepatches and have similar hair color. Nina’s design was intriguing to me, mainly because, like I said, her appearance reminded me of Yagyu, one of my favorite Senran Kagura characters. Can you picture Nina Aquila having twintails? She’d definitely look like Yagyu that way.

But I guess this might be the thing about an anime character that looks like a character from some different series. I once read somewhere that Hikage, also from Senran Kagura, looks like Yuuka Kazami from Touhou.

But the point is, I’m probably never gonna get the chance to play Nina Aquila Legal Eagle, so that’s why I’m asking.
