Happy 3 year Gungi-versary to TBB Season 2, Episode 6, “Tribe” !! This year I wanted to share my headcanon for what a continuation of Gungi’s story could look like and illustrate a piece along with it! 🌴💚
~
Gungi lived the rest of his cubhood out in Yanna’s village, getting to finally live a normal life with his people and taking the time to heal from his traumas with the help of Elder Yanna, who had become a parental figure to the young boy. Life on Kashyyyk was peaceful… for a time. In the background, The Empire was ravaging Kashyyyk; destroying it’s forests, enslaving its people. Gungi wanted to take a stand, to fight back, but Yanna always told him that their numbers were too few and they couldn’t take on the Empire even if they wanted to. The best thing they could do to help, was to keep seeking for Wookiees in need and help them take refuge in their village sanctuary. And for a while, that was that.
Then one day, a towering Wookiee warrior was escorted into the village. Chieftain Tarfful. He came to the village sanctuary, humbley asking if they could lend some of their warriors to help aid him in his fight against the Empire. Gungi lit up immedietly, offering himself to join the fight, saying that the Wookiee Resistance could use a Jedi in the fight. Yanna immedietly tried to shut it down, pleading with Gungi not to go… but he had already made up his mind. So with teary eyes, she had no choice but to bid Gungi, her little warrior, farewell, with a promise to her that after the war was done, he’d come home.
