ps. love how this hair matches the vanilla hair textures! gonna try to keep all modded hairs with this same texture.

just changed to CachyOS and happy to say no more screentearing with my nvidia card all thanks to being logged in under wayland! its smooth-sailing for me finally :3

also did some ricing! look how cute the virtual bonsai is lol!

notes: sims 2 reshade tweaking

just installed two of antisocialbunnysims's lots. so here's some shots of her lovely builds with the reshade i'm currently messing with (im obsessed with how she decorates and her builds are great for testing out how the reshade affects the ingame colours)

now looking at the shots, i might end up upping the saturation/hue for the oranges a bit to make it pop a little more like how it does in vanilla for the rug and lantern

though it might be a bit tricky because the red of the barn is affected by the orange hues in the lightroom efx as well as the wood pine flooring/doors e.e and i dont think im yet willing to compromise to those being more saturated) ᶦ'ᵛᵉ ᵍᵒᵗ ˢᵉⁿˢᶦᵗᶦᵛᵉ ᵉʸᵉˢ ᵗᵒ ᵇʳᶦᵍʰᵗⁿᵉˢˢ

but happy to say the sims 2 with NGlighting isnt as taxing to the fps as other games are for me! so thats a plus!

🏗️ building notes: the grey building i'm making into a small clinic. if anyone knows of any mods that would be fun to make it functional, please do comment! <3

i heard of the hospital mod but that seems best for a bigger lot and the idea of corruption scares me.

i have the palm tree vacation mood mod that i plan to incorporate somehow, similar to how antisocialbunny did her nurse's gameplay for her functional highschool.

i havent downloaded any proper decor for a doctor's office yet but here's the layout that i so far:

notes:

was messing with a HDR filter for my "linux vanilla-lite" preset. i like it for screenshots but toggle it off for gameplay. i noticed the less contrast there visually is, the less likely i am of having a headache or "eye-ache"

Hi!! I want to get into Ts2 and I’d love to use your reshade presets. I only have experience with ts4. Do I have to use an older version of reshade for ts2? Is installation the same as ts4? Thanks in advance!! I love your posts so much!

Hello! From my experience, I've always been able to use the latest version of reshade with ts2. Though for reference and what is working for me rn, I have version 6.4.1 installed.

The installation of reshade for ts2 can be slightly different than ts4 and other games. Instead of selecting the original game .exe (Sims2EP9.exe), you'll want to select Lazy Duchess' Sims2EP9RPC.exe.

my .exe is located in: The Sims 2/Fun with Pets/SP9/TSBin/

I'm on linux (cachyOS) and only have been able to get DirectX9 to work, while on windows I used Vulkan with a dxvk setup (I remember preferring it because I was able to experiment with more of the newer filters/effects like NGLighting, though sadly that's not an option on linux :c but worth the trade off to be rid of pink soup lol 🙈)

Here's some tutorials that may help depending on your setup:

📌 Linux Reshade tutorial (my current setup): ⚘ brandinotbroke offers a written tutorial which helped me when I had first installed reshade: https://simblr.cc/ts2/tutorial/2629-installing-reshade-on-linux.html ⚘ I also recommend TeaAddict's discord, which has alot of handy tutorials especially for simming on Linux!

📌 Windows Reshade w. DirectX10/11/12: ⚘ This seems to be the most commonly used. I recommend watching this video by acottonsock. She's does a really good job visually showcasing how to install for a windows setup.

📌 Windows Reshade w. Vulkan/dxvk (what I used on windows): ⚘ Make sure you have dxvk installed first by dropping both the d3d9.dll and dxvk.conf files in your TSBin Folder. These are the files from my windows: x But if you'd like to install it yourself then you can from here: x. I believe Sims 2 is a 32-bit game, so you'll want to grab the d3d9.dll file from that folder. (if you're more of a visual person, acottonsock also has a video on how to install it, i believe.) ⚘ Once done, you can now install reshade by selecting Vulkan and choosing Sims2EP9RPC as your exe.

EDIT: Oh! and also forgot to mention! For effects like adof and mxao to work - make sure to turn ts2 "Smooth Edges" all the way to less. I remember that was a problem I had when I first installed it. Here are my reshade global settings for reference:
