some loaves I saw at an estate sale today
Tomorrow we have town wide yard sales and I love fucking love yard sailing. So that means I gotta get up early, strap on my backpack, and find some treasures for not a lot of money. Yay.
I bought a gorgeous blue Schwinn bicycle today at a yard sale and it has an awesome gel seat and a spot on the back I can install a crate in!! Weeeeee
Today was fabulous. Woke up around 11 with girlie still in bed because she didn't have work in the morning. Then we went to Saratoga for the Spring Yard Sale which was kind of a bust, but we got fried dough balls! And then we drove around Ballston Spa looking for yard sales and free stuff. We ended up buying a cool glass jar thing from a guy, and then new chairs and a vase from this couple. Then we found this park near star-kitten 's house that we will have to go hang out at with her & her boy. Then we went back to Albany and I got taco bell, went to home depot and got some scotch permanent mounting tape because our command strips keep failing and then we went on an adventure to tractor supply in glenmont in search of cheap awesome barrel planters. They didn't have any big cheap ones but I bought this cool purple pot that is made of bamboo somehow, IDK it looks like plastic but it's super cool.
Then we checked craigslist one more time and there was a free queen size mattress and box spring so we rushed over to it and it was still there, super clean and soft and wonderful. We checked for bedbugs, got it on girlies jeep and drove home. Checked it for bedbugs again. Then brought it into the porch. Then we dismantled the bed frame we no longer need and then she left for work. I then set up the new mattress in the room, took the lights off the old headboard and hung them on the porch.
Then I took the cat for a walk for like an hour outside and now I'm hanging out on the porch.
This was long but life is great. =]

Holy moly me oh my, this past Saturday served up so many yard sale adventures and stories! Peeled myself out of bed at 8:15 a.m., drowned myself in coffee with hopes of drowning my hangover, picked up my sailor companion, blasted some folk rock from my iPod, and we were off. I plan on telling some of our stories in little chunks throughout the week, but to tide you over 'til then, here are some quick tidbits:
I limited myself to only one purchased piece of jewelry. Talk about restraint.
We met a man hosting a moving sale, because he and his girlfriend are packing up and moving to Turkey. He was excited to go back to his homeland, but admitted sadly that it meant that he would have to give away his big, lovable white dog, who wouldn't have been able to handle the 24-hour plane ride.
We stumbled upon about five "Bonus Sales" while en route to the ones we planned on hitting after scouring Craigslist.
We may or may not have dissembled a table in the middle of the road to stuff it into the backseat of Dirty Harriet (almost getting hit by a car in the process

And so it begins!
This is my first post upon embarking on my yard sailor adventure. On this blog I will post everything from personal stories from actual yard sales that I attend, to general yard sale news and information. The goal of the blog is to cater to people with an interest in yard sales, acting as an aggregator of information as well as content creator. When covering actual yard sales, I will document the ‘highlights’ of any given sale (most bizarre object being sold? most valuable? most interesting?), further explore the reasons why people decide to host yard sales at any given time, and question what it is about certain objects that the seller is willing to give them up, and yet not willing to throw them away (liminality of “stuff”).
