Chaos Sauce and three of the Daz’ulsons were sitting on the floor of Raz’ul’s old room. Randy was casually looking around, and took a potpourri off a side table and slid it into his pocket with a hum. Yashee was asking all sorts of questions to the royal brothers that seemed to take their attention, to Raz’ul’s dismay when it got too into embarrassing moments of his childhood. Randy walked over to join the conversation, sitting next to Donk’ul.
“-And that’s when dad found Raz’ul and I covered in the raw cookie dough at three am!” Dank’ul exclaimed, emphasizing his words with his hands enthusiastically. Raz’ul covered his face, embarrassed. “Raz’ul was so scared of being found out he started sobbing on the spot and dad had to comfort him for like another hour.”
Yashee patted his back, before resting her hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay, I get it. Something is just so GOOD about cookie dough.” Raz’ul let out a sigh but didn’t fight her grasp. “So what else did you guys get up to?”
“Or- or, we could change subjects?” Raz’ul suggested. Yashee’s hand dropped, as everyone looked at him to get what he was going to say next. He seemed to be speaking faster the longer he talked. “We still have to figure out our next move against-”
“We can still wait on that.” Rany argued with a shrug. “Besides I wanna know what a slumber party is like anyways.”
Donk’ul clapped his hands together. “That would be fun! We could all sleep on the floor, tell scary stories, truth or dare, braid each other’s beards… Well, maybe not that we could maybe… make some cookie dough?”
Raz’ul gave him a look. “Yeah, I’d rather not. But I GUESS a sleepover could be fun.”
“Heck yes!” Yashee exclaimed, her hands raised in the air. Raz’ul and Dank’ul dodged out of the way so they wouldn’t get hit. “I think we should play truth or dare first!” Everyone else agreed and arranged themselves in a better circle. They went through the normal things. Hold an ice cube until it melts, say something really loud unnecessarily, tell everyone something you’ve never told anything else, and this went on for a while. After Randy span in a circle for 35 seconds and attempted to walk in a straight line, he sat back down.
“Raz’ul, truth or dare?”
He gave a noncommittal shrug, not really feeling like standing up. “Uh, truth I guess?”
“Okay, fair enough. Who’s your celebrity crush?” Randy asked, not really thinking about it. Raz’ul blinked and looked away, his face suddenly growing warm. Randy hid an evil smile. “What, it’s just a simple question.”
“I think I count as a celebrity, Randy. I don’t get celebrity crushes.” He explained quickly. Randy squinted his eyes as Yashee thought it over.
“Well that isn’t fair. Celebrities should be allowed to have celebrity crushes too!”
Donk’ul and Dank’ul nodded. Dank’ul cleared his throat. “Exactly. Which is why Raz’ul, you shouldn’t be ashamed of your celebrity crush on-”
“I don’t have a crush on Neous!” Raz’ul interrupted, his face burning.
“Who’s Neous?” Randy and Yashee asked in unison. When they noticed that they had said the same thing, they high fived before Randy continued. “But yeah, I’ve never heard of a celebrity named Neous.”
Donk’ul feigned innocence, ignoring the expression Raz’ul was giving him. “Oh you don’t know them? They were this travelling bard who performed for the royals here every year for a while. They’re a famous singer and notoriously known for asking Raz’ul to hang out after the performances. Did you ever actually hang out with them?”
“Well…” He met everyone’s gazes and accepted that he had lost. “Yeah I did. We were kind of friends actually… Wait did Neous stop coming here annually? I thought dad hired them to be here for the ball or something.”
“Neous stopped showing up after you did dude.” Dank’ul recalled. Raz’ul looked down at his hands while Randy and Yashee gave looks at each other. They didn’t really have anything to add. “Actually there was a theory between Donk’ul and I that you two left together. I don’t know where they are now.”
“I mean they’re a bard, right?” Randy asked. Raz’ul nodded. “Then that’s probably their main income. When Symbol toured around tavern’s and stuff he got famous… And if this person is already a celebrity it shouldn’t be too hard to find where they’re performing. After we figure out what’s happening with Wesley, at least.”
“That could be fun.” Yashee agreed. Raz’ul gave a smile. He was grateful for his friends. He leaned on Yashee tiredly. She looked at him, and then everyone else. “Is it time for the sleeping part of the sleepover? I’ve been meaning to ask when that was happening but I didn’t want to be rude.”
“Yeah, sleep would be good. You guys have a lot to figure out, we’ll try to help where we can.” Donk’ul nodded. They all got blankets and pillows from the bed and fell asleep there. Raz’ul looked up at the ceiling, remembering Neous for a moment before moving to his side with a smile on his face.
