Cryptid Ghostbusters AU

So @thegirlsinthefirehouse and I have been amusing ourselves for the past couple of days with this really fun AU idea that all the GB 2016 girls are somehow cryptids or become them. Since Halloween is right around the corner we decided to share a few of our ideas

Patty the werewolf: The newest of the bunch to become a cryptid, Patty is learning the ways of her fellow cryptid kind while juggling being a buster, studying to become a historian, and maintaining her romance with Abby (because fuck yes I ship them, how goddamn cute are they?)

Abby the Selkie Born into the world of the supernatural, Abby is one of few selkies living in NY. Most of her family resides in Ireland where her people are more common and widely accepted, but Abby wanted away from the “old country” and took up paranormal research in the US quite some time ago. Abby keeps her seal skin in a locked trunk under her bed. Only Patty as the spare key.

Erin the Vampire The oldest member of the group, Erin is well over 200+ years old but still struggles with her vampirism, unwilling to take blood from humans. She feeds primarily on either synthetics or animal blood. True to form, she’s allergic to sunlight and can transform into a bat at will, but thanks to a botanical discovery made by Abby and Patty, Erin can spend a scant few hours in the sun so long as she wears the sunblock they created from bioluminescent algae

Holtzmann the Shapeshifter Another born into her cryptid nature, Holtz possesses the ability to shapeshift into any living creature at will. Her primary/favorite form is a white ferret with blue eyes. Due to her versatile nature, Holtz is the go-to person for figuring out sticky situation as well as the company’s primary tech guru. She and Erin have been happily dating for a few years, the two spending their evening flying together as bats when they have a free moment.

Fun little ideas/scenarios she and I keep coming up with

GitFH: I have this mental image of patty in werewolf form with a book open in front of her with Abby's glasses perched on her snout. Abby is asleep curled up on her chest. she glares at holtz over the top of the glasses when she takes pictures with her cell.

Nerd: Patty playing in the water while Abby swims around in her seal form, splashing her. Abby scolding Patty for getting her pelt all dirty and tangled with sticks and leaves. Patty helping Abby clean her seal skin. The two huddled under a blanket by the ocean, sipping tea and coffee, just watching the waves

GitFH Patty, despite Abby's concerns, loves the water. One of her favorite tricks is to get her fur completely saturated, come back on shore, and absolutely soak Holtz, who looks like a wet rat with her hair falling down her shoulders. Holtz gets the brilliant idea of putting a go pro camera around Abby's neck and they all flip out when they realize ghosts inhabit old shipwrecks

Nerd: Erin and Patty are running buddies! Patty's the only one who can keep up with her. They make a habit of only running at night so no one sees them. During the moon, Holtz transforms into a wolf and runs with Patty to help burn off her energy.

GitFH I was thinking about an animal cuddle pile. werewolf patty curled around seal Abby with bat Erin hanging upside down off either one of patty's ears or Abby's flippers and Holtz hiding somewhere in patty's fur

GitFH It's like a menagerie in the firehouse. I can picture Holtz giving some little kids a tour. "Well, we really wanted to adopt a dalamation, but we have Kevin so... meet our firehouse seal!" Abby glaring at Holtz before completely soaking her with sea water. Oh geez, I just pictured Kevin finding out about Abby. "Hey guys, did you know we have a pool up on the roof? And there's a seal in there! It didn't like my ham sandwich. It kind of just stared at me. Do seals do that?"

Nerd The girls wind up inadvertently part of the supernatural underground, helping their kind while still busting ghosts. Turns out, New York really is a melting pot of cultures because there is literally EVERYTHING in this city and a lot of issues that need working out. Patty refrains from joining a local pack because of the whole "this bitch ain't no one's beta" thing, staying loyal to her friends. Same for Erin who runs across a coven of vampires looking to stir up trouble. Did this just turn into a Cryptid Dresden files?

Nerd: Holtz hanging with bat Erin, both asleep in bat forms from one of the beams in the firehouse

Abby getting sick and Patty worriedly curling around her and laying on her bed (even though with her added weight its gonna break the frame one day) whimpering and nuzzling Abby, ears back, eyes huge

Holtz wanting to give Patty a taste of her own medicine and shifting into a huge grizzly bear and flopping on her, refusing to get off

Erin having an off day and just lying atop Abby's head in bat form, making little squeaks when Abby reaches up and scratches her back

Holtz likes to shapeshift into a bigger bat, like a flying fox, whenever she goes flying with Erin Erin: (wee vampire bat) Holtz: (Massive fucking bat with like a three foot wingspan) Erin: the point of changing into a bat is so people DONT notice us, Holtz! Keep it tiny! Holtz: I AM THE NIGHT! I AM DARKNESS! I AM DEATH INCARNATE! (all of this is spoken in squeaky bat speak)

GitFH one day, while flying around in bat form, Patty reaches up and grabs Holtz gently in her jaws. She squeak and flails, but Patty doesn't let go. Patty hands (mouths?) over to Abby, who holds onto Holtz and dresses her up in a tiny Batman costume
