its so crazy how robert spends his entire childhood trying to join (or come between) the bond jack and andy have. and then he does it with andy and katie too and arguably tries with andy and victoria and andy and daz at times. and it makes him so horrifically upset when it never works. and then he replicates that with the entire white family (who in many ways are human manifestations of allll his complexes, his terrible childhood making him evil, the perfect adulthood he promised himself, the miserable future that awaits him). and hes soooo angry that the whites will always choose each other before choosing him. and like i truly believe he hates the whites, but he doesnt hate them because theyre awful or annoying. he hates them because they were supposed to be his shiny new family, but the same issue remains - hes still an outsider within their dynamic and always will be

#yay !!!!#and he pushes away the one white member he actually does like and might have chosen him over family (rebecca) ..#which also makes rebecca a manifestation of his relationship with aaron in a away. and also the fact she becomes pat/sarah too #i used to have no thoughts about the whites. now im so incredibly obsessed with them #and how they use them at different points in robs arc as foils for his major issues because they are in many ways written for him #although it would have been nice to see them develop away from their robertness more. oh well #x
