So i read a lot of fanfic. like. a lot. of fanfic. its well written, awesome characters, amazing authors and artists, is something i can easily keep with me when I am on the go bc i can leave it open on my cell’s internet app, and its fun. fun to read, fun to connect w the creators, fun to experience characters in other ways. so what imma do on sundays - maybe weekly, maybe more spread out - is post links for all the fics i’ve read in that period. this is the first one. settle in for a crap ton of epically written works to which I claim absolutely no credit, i’m just a reader of these great works! Again, no credit to me, all credit to the amazing authors of these works!

Peter falls somewhere in the second category.
He's made a list of what he has, keeps it zipped up in his old backpack to make sure he hasn't lost anything important. It isn't long: a carefully folded wad of cash in the bottom of his bag, hidden away to make sure nobody else can find it; three granola bars for emergencies; ibuprofen (fighting crime isn't safe, kids); his Spider-Man suit (that's what he's decided to call himself); a pair of extra socks; his pictures.
That's it. Everything Peter owns fits in one bag.
That's his lot in life.
Pathetic.

The series is great! Summary:
i really liked small great things!!! (yes, i read a 450 page book in 7ish hours—i’ve always been a fast reader) i enjoyed how it ended. ready to start another book tomorrow....(technically today, as it’s almost 1am :p)
I can't fucking find that post where I said I was gonna update my reading status or something like that cause I forgot and I once again lost my motivation for reading for a while but a n y w a y s
I'm on chapter 11 for tgcf
Chapter 13 for my re-read of mdzs
And i just started picking up svsss again but I'm 90% sure i left off on either chapter 30 or 31
I'm pretty proud i mean this is the most reading I've done in months besides fanfiction
I somehow almost stopped reading after starting University four years ago, but I finally figured out how to make time for books in my life so here I was, in fall of 2018, with a fresh to-do list including all the favorite books of the one person I trust with recommendations. Now that I’m almost done with those it’ll be hard to find anything that seems worthwhile. Please note that this is just about what I read in 2019, not the books that were released that year.
The first books I read were Richard Schwartz’s “Askir” novels, which are totally amazing – and totally untranslated. Apart from German they only seem to have been released in Dutch(?), which is a shame because I cannot recommend them enough. An epic fantasy story written with a deep understanding of story structure, world building and the German language, this is easily one of the best written books I’ve read in my life, with a special mention to the insanely hard to put down opening novel “Das erste Horn”. I’ve never experienced another book hit the point-of-no-return this early and keep the tension up right till the end.
Next was Jay Kristoff’s “Nevernight”, which I loved as well. The first thing I noticed was the unique and intricate writing style as well as the simple originality of the world. The book has been polarizing a bit and I can see why. It’s a weird mixture of brutally dark and erotic, and the way it’s written might be fascinating to some, or off-putting for others. I’d recommend reading the first chapter and then decide if this is something you’d enjoy, since pretty much everything making up the soul of these books is at display in the prologue. I for once can’t wait for the release of the third and final novel.
The second story I actually got to finish this year was Anthony Ryan’s “Raven’s Shadow” trilogy. Where the first book has consistently been good from start to finish, the second struggled a bit to keep my attention at first, with many new POV characters and plotlines I couldn’t see the point of. But when those plotlines start to converge, it really takes off, finally delivering on an exhilarating climax where everything falls together beautifully. The last book pretty much stayed on that level, only the ending itself felt a bit hollow. It’s not a bad ending by any means, but it’s a bit depressing nonetheless.
I also started reading Jasper Fjorde’s “Thursday Next” novels. They remind me of Terry Pratchett’s works a bit: hilarious, creative and just not the kind of books you binge seven volumes of. As much as I enjoyed reading the first novel, I will keep them on the backburner for a while, they are best consumed in small packages.
There weren’t many sequel novels I waited for this year so it mostly came down to waiting for new “Rivers of London” books to be translated, all of them worth the wait. I regret not reading them in English from the beginning since British novels are usually better in their original language, but I was in no way able to fully enjoy a book in any foreign language back then. Besides, the spin-off he’s written takes place in Germany. This is the point where I applaud him on the immense amount of research he no doubt did for this, since “The October Man” isn’t just historically accurate (unless he chooses not to be), but also feels very ingrained in German culture.
Finally, I picked up “The Lies of Locke Lamora” by Scott Lynch in December. As of writing this, I’m done with the first novel and 200 pages into the second one. If further installments of the franchise keep up this level of quality, they have potential to end up being my new favorites. As a standalone book at least, the first novel is up there for being creative, funny, depressing and overall very hard to put down.
