I recently listened to crazy=genius for the first time and when I heard you can set yourself on fire/but you’re never gonna learn I screamed like the lyrics work well, but also just the overall vibe of the song is so great for heather in the au
yeah babe ik that's why i picked it for the fic title!
the original title for the fic was "crafted holy rolling thunder," which...tldr: i have a heathertail fic for icarus, titled "crafted holy rolling thunder," but the rough draft of the original chrt became ycsyof when @space-pilot-3000 got super excited about heatherpaw killing lionpaw...something i wasn't planning on. (scout, yes, you're the reason ycsyof exists. i know it also exists because you said you'd give me your soul if i wrote you df!heathertail, but i don't know if i ever told you how fundamental you were to the existence of it.)
anyway, ycsof is easily one of my favourite titles for how well i think the song captures the fic. like...other than the line i used for the title, i don't think the lyrics match the fic. but when i listen to crazy=genius, i hear heathertail, who goes to the dark forest and picks apart hawkfrost for weaknesses. (her mother will die because of a battle she plans.)
in general i think y'all're missing out if you don't listen to the songs i pick for fics: which reminds me, i think this is very important.
if you haven't listened to "helplessness blues" (fleet foxes), and you like "i'll come back to you someday soon myself," you should go listen to it right now.
anyway, back on topic. i'm really glad you took up my suggestion because i think it captures the energy of heathertail so well and i want more people to experience it.
