Nugu GG of the Week #426 : Ye-A

🫡 don't forget your nugu roots, she's singing to God for being thankful for leaving nugudom with this one

Ye-A is a girl group that debuted in 2014. Some people might know of this nugu group because A) You were there in real time for their debut like I was or B)a nugu enjoyer despite being a newer kpop fan or C) Miss Kwon Eunbi of IZ*ONE fame was in this group.

The members overall : Kazoo (aka Kwon Eunbi, we don't make fun of her enough for having this horrible ass stage name I feel), Dohye, Chai (nugu darling 💕), Hyei, Pier, Hady, Yeorin, Yigyer, Mia, Xiha, and Rose. This is a lot of girls but basically the group debuted as 8 but members left and newer girls got added in with the hope to continue as because nugudom has many member changes sometimes, however a comeback never materialized so some of the girls didn't "officially" debut in the group.

Aside from Kwon Eunbi we had Chai a former member of GP Basic (y'all still streaming Pika Burnjuck?), Mia aka MiSo from GIRLS GIRLS (y'all still streaming GIRLS GIRLS?), Pier some random nugu group, and Dohye has several GGs under belt as well.

The song they debuted with is Up N Down, a fun funky pop song with some horns. A pretty standard cutesy nugu anthem. The vocals were decent, some interesting vocal tones. MV had a decent budget for some colorful sets and multiple outfit changes. The group went into hiatus with member changes and such but by 2016 the group officially disbanded.

Post disbandment Kwon Eunbi was on the Produce show and made it to IZ*ONE and since had been releasing music, being a regular on the variety/hosting shows plus made her acting debut. I wonder if fans ever show up to her solo gigs with any Ye-A merch 🤔 regardless happy that she got out of nugudom I guess, wish it happened for some other nugu girlies over her tbh but hey Glitch was really good.

Dohye did release 4 digital singles under her full name 황도혜 (Hwang Dohye) in 2012 before her debut with Ye-A. Missing, a nice ballad/R&B type song. Start featuring random men, she sounds great, just a mid pop song. Beautiful Girl, a cute pop track with some horns, again vocals solid. Lastly, 4Story, another cute acoustic pop track with some handclaps, personally of her 4 Ye-A singles this one was my favorite, feels Baek A-yeon or Juniel coded. After bouncing around nugudom she is now singing solo again since 2019. She now goes by "DD!". She has released 2 mini albums and 6 digital singles. I did a quick skimmy skim of these songs 🧐 her vibe is just chill indie, soft whisper vocals, R&B vibe, some songs definitely have a slight experimental vibe. From the skimming aka skipping through the songs and listening to roughly 20 seconds overall from each song it was interesting and some songs caught my interest. Will be adding my favorites to my nugu GG of the Week playlist on Spotify along with the one shared on the post 🧐
