Hi
racism tw, abuse tw
Gotta love that Mixed Experience(TM) of being expected to make nice with an elderly relative despite their blatant disrespect and racial abuse of a family member when they (the racist relative) were well into adulthood, and knowing it’s not your place to still be resentful when the relative who was the target of that abuse forgives that elderly person, but that same relative who was abused comes from a culture that harbors deep respect for older people and especially parents and grandparents and you know that that older relative never apologized for their behavior so they ultimately escaped judgment by being old and having targeted someone whose values can lend to a situation like this where older people who do harm never have the incentive to grow or improve themselves and spend their lives being hateful and cruel without consequences and are somehow treated as if they are owed love in proximity to death when their lives carved damage and trauma where there already were hairline fractures and outright crevices carved by a society and upbringing that did not value them when it mattered most
