She didn’t think too hard about the stranger’s hand she grabbed, she was just running. As fast as she could from the sound of confused, angry shouting, and the approaching gunfire. She thought that perhaps if she could run far and hard enough that she could look behind her shoulder and everything would be different, like waking up from a dream.

Instead, she simply pulled someone else into her nightmare. Turning a corner behind a building as footsteps raced past. Finally, a moment of respite. A second to breathe after all of the panic and confusion. Just enough time for her to take in the confused face of the girl she dragged with her, realizing she had only just then let go of her hand after it all.

“Well...this is rather awkward. isn’t it? My apologies.”

“I don’t suppose I got your name while we were running and merely about it, miss....?”
