Galata Bridge in Istanbul at sunset. “The Galata Bridge leads across the Bosphorus straight to the Galata Tower. No matter what time of day, the bridge always seems to be packed with fishermen. Standing there, shoulder to shoulder, some of them in conversation, others silently contemplating the ripples of the world beneath them. Buckets of tackle are randomly scattered along the footpath, hooks and other fishing gear are sold along its entire length.  Despite the bustle and the heavy traffic, it feels very peaceful here. Time seems to be suspended in between the rush of cars and lazy fishing lines glistening in the sun. The Art of Transforming a Flag The latest developments with “The March of Hope”, the film Jim and I shot a little over two years ago, have inspired me to search my archive for an image that captures an essence of the film. I ended up with this one right here. “He had recognised something in German policy and its people at the time; in their attitude and priorities. Their desire to relieve suffering first and to find solutions later. In this context, therefore, for a fleeting moment, the flag had become a symbol of this universal attitude. To me, at least. This is @katerina_momitsa . She creates wonderful things with the #Turkish #art of #ebru. I guess, you could best describe it as #waterpainting. Shapes and forms in all colours are a painted on the water’s #surface and are, subsequently, captured by a blank piece of paper. That’s it in a nutshell. Another picture taken during our visit to #Andros for the art project #My_Andros organised by #gr_events. Thank you @elaki26 and @gvergados for making it an unforgettable event. Saturday was a very stormy day on the island, with wind up to 7 Beaufort (or was it 8?). The words I heard the most were “poli aera”, which, you might have guessed it, translates to “a lot of wind”. It is very helpful for my learning the Greek language, when vocabulary is unmistakably backed up by nature’s great force. I had never seen the #Mediterranean in turmoil like that. It was a #spectacle to see the huge waves rolling in, one after the other, bursting into tiny droplets all along the Chora coastline. Like ethereal sculptures of a restless sea. The beauty of nature - humbling and exhilarating all at once. There is an old Greek song, saying that if you are looking for a #captain, you should take one from Andros. The Blue Mosque in Istanbul. I mean, really...! Isn't that a marvellous building? Ok, I know, it's not really blue (especially not in tungsten light). The blue refers to the colour of the tiles on the inside of the mosque. But for all who would be too disappointed by the label fraud, I placed those nice, blue fountains in the foreground.
