Deja Vu
“Soo-naa~” Lestara called out to her daughter, “Don’t go out so far, darling!... Now where did she run off this time...?”
The air felt different in Ionia. The air, the ground, even the sunlight touching her skin through the canopy above; it all felt energizing and alive in a way Demacia never could. It made Sona’s eyes bright and sparkling and wide. It made her feel free.
Her mother just couldn’t understand this feeling. Sona’s steps were so light she barely touched the ground, running barefoot across the grass and leaves. Ahh... the scent of sweet flowers, and the buzz of little insects gathering their nectar. It was as though the forest sang with life. By all accounts maybe it did. Maybe she had just forgotten Ionia’s songs...
<Hello, little friend> she thought, observing a large beetle climbing a ruddy tree. <You look so pretty! Have you ever seen yourself?>
The beetle didn’t acknowledge her, but that was to be expected. It probably knew it was pretty, though. Beetles were pretty confident sorts.
Without a care in the world she flew between branches and sat on hanging logs, wandering further and further beyond the beaten paths. And further than she was familiar with, risking getting herself lost. Though if Sona had realized that or not it wasn’t quite clear - she was suddenly captivated by a wild fruit tree.
It was so nice to be able to float around freely! She could reach any fruit she wanted without a ladder or a stick! In Demacia she could never do such a thing! Well, not without causing a scene and having to be dragged home by her mother. Again. She’d probably still try to stop her even now if she were there. Maybe she shouldn’t bring any fruit back...
Or maybe she wouldn’t have much choice. Picking one ruby red apple shook the branch enough to send others tumbling down. <Ah, ah...!> Sona tried to catch them in her arms, but wasn’t quick enough beyond the two she had picked herself. <Come back!>
