Why does Alastor project all his own worst qualities onto Vox?

I mean yes he projects his frustrations onto lots of people but onto Vox more than anyone else. Why? Why Vox? A lot of these things are only vaguely true about Vox or completely untrue. Is it really just cause Vox is "just like him, except sharp, brighter, newer?"
