wait hm. erlang shen with peach imagery. peaches as calling back to his mother's imprisonment in mount peach and him freeing her from said imprisonment. peaches as calling back to his tumultuous past friendship with sun wukong, a literal yao and a rule-breaking respite from the heavenly pressure he was feeling from the celestial court. peaches typically serving as a symbol of long life and prosperity, bountiful in acres of immortality-granting orchards in heaven, but serving to him, a demigod, as a reminder of his shaky relationship to his celestial status and of the terrible consequences to be found in falling outside of heaven's laws and grace, but also as a reminder of the comfort he'd find in connection to his humanity and the ache he feels knowing he can't possibly embrace that part of him.
