☆ - happy

Yoel loves big crowds and people watching. When he was traveling with his family’s caravan, whenever they’d arrive at a new destination, he climb up on something and just watch for interesting people and imagine the places they’d been to.

♥ - family

Yoel is the middle-ish child. He has five other siblings (who I’m not going to name right now because names are hard), and of them, he’s the only one whoever wanted to leave the family trading caravan and go out on his own.

∇ - old age/aging

Yoel really wants to try and visit as many places, and see as many sights as possible before he gets old. Since it’s a lot more difficult to go on wild adventures when you’re old. At least as far as he’s concerned. Outside of that, he figures he’d sort of end up back with the caravan when he’s done. He’s not really afraid of getting old, just, wants to avoid it for as long as possible.

10: Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?

mmm. Probably somewhere in the middle. Yoel’s not a nudist, but he’s not hiding things under layers and layers of clothing like some people. 

11: In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

Well, there’s been some close calls when he was traveling alone for a time. But recently, that time a large evil goat-person nearly smashed him is up there. 

15: Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?

Yoel has a great appreciation for money and material possession (he is from a family of merchants after all). But what he values most is new experiences. New sights, new places. That sort of stuff you can’t really purchase so he enjoys seeking it out. 

20: In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?

I don’t think Yoel really compares himself to others. He’s not particularly introspective, nor does he care a whole lot what others might think of him.

44: How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

Yoel would only really say it if he means it. It’s not particularly difficult for him to, but it would take awhile for any sort of relationship (platonic or romantic) to get there. 

45: What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?

hmmm. I think Yoel has some sort of vague idea about an afterlife, but he’s too preoccupied living in the moment to really think about it. So long has he’s content with whatever he’s doing at the moment, I don’t think Yoel would be afraid of dying.

Yoel: Owlbear, Basilisk, Drow, Ettercap, Lich

Owlbear: What makes your character angry? How do they deal with anger?

Yoel is pretty easy going? But something like someone actively choosing ignorance over learning something would make him pretty mad. Yoel’s main outlet is probably yelling at whoever made him mad.

Basilisk: What Hogwarts House would your character be in?

I could equally see Hufflepuff or Gryffindor 

Drow: What does your character think is their greatest flaw? Are they right?

Ettercap: Who drives your character up the wall?

The sound of people loudly chewing. Or people giving large bugs stupid names.

Lich: If your character could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Hmmm. I think the loss of all the other Age’s accumulated knowledge. Since Yoel is at least partly motivated by discovery and interesting things, sometimes it can be frustrating to find those sorts of things but have absolutely no idea who or what made them and for what purpose.

Mimic: What are your character’s short term goals? What about long term?

Yoel’s short term goal is to figure out what’s up with that cult. And avoid evil goatmen forever. Yeol doesn’t have a whole lot of long term goals. Mostly to travel and see as much of the world as possible and to try and keep things interesting. Which so far so good. 

Beholder: Who does your character look up to?

Hmmmm. In some ways, Yew looks up to the rest of the party, since from his perspective they seem to know more of what they’re actually doing. But in the more traditional sense, probably Silas? In the short time they worked together, Silas seemed like a pretty good (if a little scattered) mentor. Hopefully he’s still around when everyone gets back to Riket.

Yoel sucks at whistling. He can barely do it.

hmmmm. It’s been some time since I really immersed myself in Numenera lore. First, I think he still likes the Floatmarket where he was born. It’s sort of the distillation of the merchant/trader lifestyle. Around the Steadfast, he’s really interested in the way that different people have adapted to living around all the weird numenera. Which is uh, kind of a cop out answer tbh...
