A fav exercises/pose of mine (isn't it funny how so many yoga poses and exercises are the same) Single Leg Deadlift in the Weightlifting circles and Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III) in Yoga Community and yet it is exactly the same thing. . This exercise/pose when done correctly it is a full body exercise/movement using the entire posterior chain as well as the core. . Benefits include: improving balance, coordination, ankle, knee and hip stability, Improving mobility and flexibility, increasing bone density, correcting imbalances between the 2 sides of the body, strengthens shoulders, and the entire posterior chain (backside of the body) . Things to remember when practicing: Spine is neutral throughout the entire movement (no rounding) . Hinge from the hips - do NOT bend from the back . shoulders AND hips are squared with hips pointing straight down to the ground. (many people tend to open the hips in order to balance better) . press the heel of the elevated foot back as if pressing against a wall. . pinky toe pointed downward . Do you do this pose/exercise? If not you should. It's freaking FUN and it makes ya feel like a bad ass doing things in 1 leg.
