Do you ever....
Do you ever look at old photos and think 'Where did my life go?" Or "Wow, I was so happy and skinny and young" etc. Then it's like all of a sudden, you get serious nostalgia and a tsunami of thoughts wishing you could go back to that time. Even better, you wish you could go back to that time when things were so good. Well it’s a silly thought really because in reality, who says you can’t live that way anymore. Who says you can’t be that happy again. Or be that fit again. Who says you can’t do the things you want to do. I have always been a firm believer in making time for the things that really matter to you. I believe that there are no excuses for anything. In fact, my college success professor said those exact words. It is not that you do not have time; it is such that your priorities are else where.
I sit here tonight reminiscing about my time in New Jersey, like always, and thinking of how it was such a special time in my life. I found myself. I found yoga and meditation. I found nutrition. I found exercise to be pleasurable not a chore. I found new appreciation for the smallest of things. I found love in myself and again in another amazing human. Really, I found and created a new life for myself. A life I never thought I deserved when I moved to New Jersey. I was shocked at my progress. Looking back, I remember at the time I kept thinking about how things could be better but I suppose that is how it goes. Even when things are splendid in every way, you always strive for more. This could also be looked at as a serious strength and beautiful characteristic. One should always strive for greatness. It’s what keeps you moving forward. However, when are we content and grateful. When can we look at our current moment, be present, and love every second of it. When do we realize that NOW is the best time of our lives. Not yesterday, not tomorrow but this moment here and now. These are the best days of our lives. It is the days where we live to the fullest. It is the days where we love to the fullest. The days where we learn the most. The days where we laugh our hardest laugh till our bellies hurt. It’s the days where we also feel pain. The days where we are able to work through our pain and still come out strong, probably stronger than before. All of these beautiful moments, both big and small, happy and sad, upset and angry, utterly depressed and overly joyful. They all mold and shape and change you into the person you are supposed to be. How beautiful is that. And how beautiful of a person you really are from these experiences. Think about it.
SO I guess what I am really trying to say from all of this is this; do not wait anymore. Do not delete your blog, or Facebook, or Instagram or anything else because you feel like you need a fresh start. The fading of the moonlight to sunlight gives you that clean slate EVERYDAY. How cool is that? Do not think you are not capable of loving again because of this one time you did that one thing. Do not worry about moving to a brand new place where no one knows you and you know nothing. Don’t worry of being judged or being crazy. Because quite frankly, it’s the crazy things that are most worth while. Your fresh start, your day one starts today. The universe and I are giving you the okay to say “Today is where I begin to live my life again”. You are given the dawn of everyday to start over, no matter what your circumstances are. Take it from a person who has hit quite a few rock bottoms, YOU have the power to change your life. Change your thoughts and you change your reality. Be the person you wanted to be when you were a child. Let your inner self shine through your beautiful self and keep moving forward. Repeat positive mantras until you are those mantras. Don’t wait<3
Right and Wrong
Today I had a random thought. (What is new?) I was thinking things that we classify as right and wrong. For the longest time, I have tried not to think of anything as right or wrong. Yet, fundamentally, I feel as if there is a distinction that must be addressed.
***As a disclaimer, I do not feel as if I have the authority to place my morals on another and declare their actions as falling into one category or another.***
There is definitely cause and there is definitely effect. Every action that is made has an effect. As we set intentions for the day, or even in a moment, our actions forward must coincide with that intention or else the desired effect will not be met. To that distinction, there is a value that is put on the actions we make. If it does not match the intention that we have set, then it is not the correct action. Likewise, if it does fall in line, then it is correct. Here, we have right and wrong.
These values are set by ourselves. They are not meant to be judgments toward one another. They are meant to be evaluations of our actions in accordance with the standards we have set.
Just something I was thinking about. Anyway. How are you?
I finally found love in myself, that kind of love, when you love the fact of living. You just need to surround yourself with right people and right music, and start to produce right energetic. I’ve finally understood that world is exactly how I see it. Water is wet, stars are bright and live is beautiful with all of the pain and suffering, because it’s part of existence.

My take on it...
1. Yes, I work really hard to think of yoga as a lifestyle and a way of being even at school and work. But quite frankly, I could use more yoga in my interpersonal relationships. I can be really unyogic toward people in my life out of human infallibility? Forgetfulness? I can be silently judgmental.
2. Yes, I try to keep learning about yoga and I will always admit that I don't know something. How can anyone know everything?
3. No, I'm aware of my own energy but I don't always understand how to work with it. I am sensitive to people's boundaries but sometimes I think I come off standoffish without meaning to. As a yoga teacher, I think it's important for me to learn to let go of my ego and moods in order to focus better on my students and the practice itself.
4. Yes! I've started a daily practice. I always try to keep in mind the things I have to be grateful for and the yama and niyamas that I do sort of know.
5. Yes! Yes! Yes! But I have to admit that those three things can be difficult to focus on simultaneously. I go to the gym and eat healthy; I try to read for fun as well as for school/work purposes. I try to practice vairagya, but I have trouble balancing.
6. Yes -- before starting yoga teacher training I was in therapy for most of 2014. Being psychologically minded has always been part of who I am, and I had trouble with emotional stability but I've worked a lot on managing it and feel I am at a point where it won't impede my work/learning.
7. Not definitively, I like to acknowledge the beauty in everyone and the general beauty of the moment but I cannot say I have a specific spiritual practice besides yoga? I suppose writing poetry and painting could count.
8. I'm at a point where I can accept where I'm at and my pace! I'll get there someday, or I won't.
I now know what kind of things I should work on as an aspiring yoga teacher.
