Y’know, I’m just going to admit I got spoiled about this ship becoming canon in episode 7. It’ll make it easier to talk about it.

While I kinda ship them and I think it’s great to have decent LGBT+ representation in an anime for once, I can’t help but feel that Viktor is being kinda creepy here. Like, it seems like he’s pulling off the dominating seme schtick, and it makes me kind of unconfortable. I guess it’s just a game and he’ll snap out of it later, because I’m pretty sure this anime has been praised for nor falling into the uke/seme cliche.

I wanted to pause half a second earlier, but this screenshot is perfect in every sense of the word.

I know he means it as a compliment, but saying that someone’s house is small is usualy not a good idea.

Okay, before I thought Viktor was just being innocenty insenstitive, but this is kinda fucked up. I mean, I get that Yuuri’s an athlete who should keep fit in order to be able to compete, but there’s no reason to be this rude about it. Like, Viktor what the fuck? I heard this episode offended a lot of overwheight people, and it’s not surprising.

...seriously, this is ten kinds of fucked up. He’s basically blackailing him.

I’m... not really sure what to think.

I mean, of course, i wasn’t expecting every character to be perfect, but I sure as hell wasn’t expecting Viktor to be this...

(Maybe this is just some kind of game and Yuuri’s going to laugh it off, but I’m still not surprised a lot of people felt uncomfortable with this episode).

This reminds me of a Steven Universe fanfiction called “Well, It’s just a Theory”, about a scientist who came upon Beach City to investigate the gems. A lot of the humor of the fic derived from the fact that Pearl said a lot of condescending, downright mean things to him, but instead of feeling offended, he was so fascinated by her knowledge that he wanted her to teach him gem science, and Pearl was like “Okay this is weird aren’t your hurt?” And he basically was like “Nope, teach me sempai”.

This had absolutly nothing to do with YoI, I just felt like mentioning tha fic and mourn over the fact that it hasn’t updated in a year and seven months. Why do the best fics have to die. Why.

But I degress.

Pfffffft. I wasn’t expecting Engrish, and yet, Engrish I got.

Before I started watching the show, I saw a meta in my dash about how Yuuri and Viktor were speaking to each other in English, even if the show presented their dialogue in Japanese (similarly to the beginning of the episode), a theory which later got confirmed in an interview. I remembre how the meta argued that Viktor’s speach is full of random English to show he’s not speaking Japanese, and I found it really interesting.

I didn't even need to Google that to know what it ment.
