Every time I see the bastardized 'futch', I sneer and want to throw hands. That very concept is predicated on placing everyone on a linear binary with butch on one end and femme on the other. That's just binary gender lite, equating frankly marginal identities to:
Masculine_____|_____Feminine.
Do you not see that you're just replacing the words man and woman? Stop trying to recreate the artificial gender binary! In a venn diagram of the entire queer community, butch and femme would be two, separate, small circles that bleed past the edges of queer into Straight ™. Yes, really.
There absolutely are people who cheerfully switch between those two identities, but they are not some tidy Kinsey scale binary of gender presentation. How would that even work? Is 90% of the queer community therefore 'futch'? That's just silly.
Look, I understand. My elders were wiped out by AIDS, and many in my generation are on facebook and xitter instead of here, reddit and discord. That limits opportunities for cultural transmission, and that's before we get to terfy radfems spreading around their gender essentialism. But sometimes you just gotta call a dumb thing dumb.
