So I’ve been noticing you’ve been reblogging/liking lots of HZD stuff so I was wondering if you’d like to share all your thoughts and feelings and hopes and dreams about HZD and HFW ….
If I would like? I would love to!! Thanks for sending this in I'm gonna ramble now though. This got long so I'm gonna put it under a cut.
Now I got HZD in 2019 and fell in love immediately. I love the story, the characters, the game mechanics. The game is massive and there are lots of things to do. it felt daunting at first but now I know what order I like to do quests in and what the quests entails. The story is very interesting to me and its a cool take on humanity creates robots and then they take over. Normally there's the last minute savior who destroys them and humanity is saved! Nope! Humanity fucking dies, every last human dies because of the robots and all they have is hope that they're project will work 'cause they won't see it. And thats awesome for me.
Some of my favorite things in HZD would be all the different machines. Tallnecks and stalkers are my favorite. I'm hoping we'll get more tallnecks in HFW. I also like the vantage points those are fun. Climbing around is also pretty cool and it took me a while to figure it out.
I really like all the characters you meet, I think they're well done for the most part. They're all different from one another and fun to interact with. My favorites would probably be Ikrie and Vanasha. Nil is also a very fun character and he gives you another reason to do bandit camps.
How they tied Aloy's motivation, finding her mother, with the general player's motivation, figuring out what happened to society, was well done in my opinion. They merged the two together and both Aloy and the player cared about both things, destruction of society and Aloy's mother.
Now the DLC: Frozen Wilds is very fun and we get to delve into the Banuk when we get very little of them in the base game compared to the other tribes. Its very interesting and different how they see the machines, much less brutal than the others. Learning about CYAN, the Derangement and Hephaestus, was fun and interesting.
Now onto HFW, my hopes for that is that we see more sub functions and learn what happened to make them all independent and full AI. That unknown source or whatever. Or maybe they explained it in game and I just missed it idk. Maybe (most likely) the Blight is caused by one of the sub functions, like Demeter? It seems to be affecting the earth so..? I thinks that's Demeter's job.
But yeah, I'm excited for more questions and answers, new land, new tribe(s), new gear! That glider looks awesome and it seems like we have different fighting mechanics which should (and look) fun. I'm itching to learn them. And the new machines!!! I wanna scan new machines, RIDE new machines, go into cauldrons (if they continue with it) and get the over ride codes.
I'm excited for the new secrets to discover, something like the metal flowers and vantages and Banuk statues. I want new characters and allies. If we could have something like a base camp, where we can talk to these characters and get supplies and updates on things that would be cool, but idk how HFW is going to be obviously so that might not be possible, but its fun to think about nonetheless.
A while ago, I got the crazy thought of 'what if we fight a metal devil?' Not a fully functional one, but maybe one half working? Or not even fight one just explore. Climb over it legs, going through the interior, see how they make the machines. Maybe some offline Deathbringers and Aloy makes some comment about them. I just think that would be cool. You do kinda explore one in the grave hoard, and there's one in Nora Land that you can climb about a little but I want more.
Overall, HZd is very fun to play and it keeps me interested. I am itching to play HFW and discover new things.
My boyfriend came out of the bathroom to me giggling and whispering: "chicky nuggies", "maccy cheesy", "choccy moo moo juice"
Hahahaha yessss I love it 😂
Does he find tumblr humor completely incomprehensible? Because every time I try to share a tumblr joke with my husband because I can’t stop cackling about it, he just looks SO confused 😂
Hey - just saw your tags in the post and yep - they definitely modeled locations in HZD after real places in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming! Here’s a side by side list from the previous game: https://horizon.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Real_Life_Locations_for_Places_in_Horizon_Zero_Dawn#General_Location
That is freaking FANTASTIC news!! I was already excited but I kind of feel like I'm going to start frothing at the mouth lmao. Thanks so much for letting me know & for linking the side by sides ❤❤
I just recently went back and reread all of your sethkat fic on AO3 and wanted to stop by to let you know that you are such a talented writer and I enjoyed them so much!
Ah! I’m so touched! Thank you so much :) I really miss that couple - that entire world really. I haven’t really been writing much for them, but they will always hold a place in my OTP heart.
I was tagged by @onceuponasuperlittlevampire - ahh thank you, lovely!
How old are you? 20!
What’s your current job? A carer but soon to be a student and I can not wait!!
What are you talented at? I think poetry writing is really my only talent. When I was 11 I won a world wide poetry competition :)
What’s your aesthetic? Oh goodness, it’s so eclectic. The old wild west, strolling through art galleries, spending time alone in grand cathedrals, everything about the autumn time, the deep south and all its gothic goodness, the Miss Dior commercial with Natalie Portman. I seem to love elegance, simplistic yet fancy things and bygone eras.
Do you collect anything? Perfume! I also love to collect antique holy things/pictures.
What’s a topic you always talk about? Hm, it really depends on what ever is currently holding my interest. But one is for sure, I’m always trying to preach that fdtd gospel hehehe.
What’s a pet peeve of yours? Bad manners and not being kind towards others. Any form of disrespect just drives me insane.
Good advice to give? Who and what is for you will not pass you by!
Three songs you would recommend?
Johnny Farmer - Death Letter
Lana Del Rey - Ride
Johhny Cash - Redemption Day
