Picture this, Pope Cody who has never had a pet except that one random cat he had for two weeks that lived in their garage x reader who is a die hard cat mom. The cat probably has some weird quirks too (my cat drips snot on me, sticks out his tongue, and loves whipped cream). Pope doesn’t get it until he wakes up on morning to the cat cuddling against him. 💕💕💕
you’ve been a cat mom since you could remember. growing up with cat hairs all over your clothes was the norm to you, you’d started to grow fond of it.
you had all kinds of cats growing up.when your parents divorced, your childhood cat was the reason you kept it together. always cuddling you whenever you were crying your heart out in your room.
so normally when your beloved childhood cat died and you moved out your mother’s house you had to adopt one, just to fill that hole in your heart that loss had formed in you.
you adopted an orange girl cat you named “mac” (short for mac&cheese obviously) to combat the lonely spaces in your new apartment in oceanside. an apartment you rented for half the price to a woman named “smurf”. she was kind, but also kinda scary so you didn’t dare to mess with her, the apartment or the rent.
she often sent her sons to collect the rents, and that’s how you met her oldest, andrew.
everybody called him pope for reasons you yet don’t understand. the first time he rang at your doorbell your cat weirdly ran to the door, which was strange behavior even for her (she was a quirky cat that’s for sure, always clingy and winking her left eye). she basically ran to the man’s calves when you opened the door “i’m so sorry i have no idea what has gotten into her” you apologized grabbing your cat from him and into your arms.
pope stumbled back a bit, surprised by the sudden cat attack and honestly from your beauty. he didn’t expect to meet you that day, he was already pissed from a job his brothers pulled without consulting him first “it’s okay” he tried to smile trying to reassure you it was actually okay, actually he had never been better “i’m here for the rent”
after that pope took care of your rent personally, sometimes he even paid for it. which of course ended up with you dragging him out for lunch to pay him back. he obviously wouldn’t let you spend a cent.
the first night he spent at your place was…something. you had to lock your bedroom door to keep mac away from him, she was obsessed with pope. you honestly couldn’t blame her “is she in heat or something?” you laughed hiding your head on his bare chest “she isn’t” your voice was still giggly “how can you be so sure?” he asked curiously “i’ve grown up with cats, i would know if she was in heat” pope simply hums and nudges his nose against yours.
after six months of dating you could tell he was starting to get attached to your mac. always buying her food and supplies and petting behind her ears, her favorite spot.
on the countless nights he slept over, he woke up one day with mac nuzzling against his chest, purring and snoring. you were having a shower unaware of what was happening in the other room. pope was taken back by the cuteness of your cat, fully trusting him, a man who had done horrible things.
that was the day pope realized he was not only madly in love with you, but he also loved your cat.
