Off-season Athletes: JAQS (Jumps) - We had a good group for our after school JAQS workout today. We started by continuing to work on loading prior to the jump, jumping mechanics, and landing mechanics. We then added band resistance to the jumps. First as extra resistance for broad jumps, requiring a higher power output and increased force production. We then used the bands on some line jumps, which again requires more force production on the jumps but also balance and control jumping back as the bands pulls in that direction. We added some shuffling against and with the bands to finish. Most of the work with the bands was new so it will get better as we do this more often, but overall I thought things went very well today. - Workout: * Vertical Jump - 2 feet: 2 x 3 jumps * Vertical Jump - 2 feet, land on 1: 2 x 3 jumps * Vertical Jump - 2 feet, 90° turn left: 1 x 3 jumps * Vertical Jump - 2 feet, 90° turn right: 1 x 3 jumps * Broad Jump - 2 feet: 2 x 3 jumps * Banded Broad Jump: 2 x 3 jumps * Banded Lateral Jump - right: 2 x 3 jumps * Banded Lateral Jump - left: 2 x 3 jumps * Lateral Line Jumps - 2 feet, lateral band right: 2 x :15 * Lateral Line Jumps - 2 feet, lateral band left: 2 x :15 * Lateral Line Jumps - 2 feet, 45° band right: 1 x :15 * Lateral Line Jumps - 2 feet, 45° band left: 1 x :15 * Double Shuffle - band right: 1 x :15 * Double Shuffle - band right: 1 x :15 - - - #jump #load #loadandexplode #landing #agility #quickness #speed #training #workout #speedkills #athlete #basics #gym #reaction #train #gains #getbetter #strengthandconditioning #health #fit #progress #changeofdirection #YourWorkHabitsDetermineYourFuture (at Farmington Strength & Conditioning)
