Addison created what may be my very favorite Holmes adaptation, not least because the Angel of London and J.H. Doyle are so differently-competent than Holmes and Watson. However, Crow being an angel meant that if I were going to adapt "The Dying Detective," someone else had to be the one pretending to be poisoned. This meant that Doyle had to be in on it from the beginning. Things developed from there.
