The cold embrace of the holidays
makes me yearn more of your presence
wanting to share this donut glazed-
in chocolate with you this Christmas season
Yesterday I was looking for things to give
But all I could think of is you alone at home
I may not be there this new year’s eve
but mom please do keep santa feel welcome
How sad and utterly unfair life truly is
that I’m celebrating Yuletides from afar
So many things I have come to miss
especially your cooked chicken finely charred
The table will be a bit empty this Christmas
So many vacant chairs to fill
time will slow down and the clock will rust
But the lonesome will leave, it will surely will
So brim your mouths with beer and wine
and fill your stomachs like stuffed turkeys
and I promise you that I will just be fine
I’m looking forward for your festive stories
