but it was never enough.
not for itoshi rin anyway.
he needed more, to be more.
and he didn't achieve that with losing.
so when rin came straight home after a big game, an air of silence loomed over him like an unrelenting ghost while he beelined for the bedroom. in fact, you'd say he looked almost miserable—more than he would usually. it was different from his routine—come home, kiss your cheek, take a shower, then talk while dinner was being made—and you knew that. he hated whenever he was thrown off balance from his daily routine.
turning off the tv, you stood up from your spot on the couch and made your way over to the entrance of your shared bedroom, footsteps muffled under the careful trek of your feet.
once you pulled the door open, you found rin squatting on the bed, still in his clothes with his socks on. his arms were tucked into each other, eyes almost glazed over while he stared straight ahead. his stuff was neatly put back like any regular day, but none of that even came close to easing the worry on your mind.
you gently shut the door behind you with a soft click. rin didn't look. not when you came closer, close enough until you were sitting on the bed as well with one leg hanging off the edge of the mattress, bordering into his personal space. and not even when you tugged at his shoulders, sending him tumbling down with his head on your lap like a sad ragdoll.
his head simply layed on the plush skin of your thighs, eyes half-lidded with the pressure of weariness, like the weight of the soccer world was bound to his shoulders.
but right now, wordlessly surrendering to your ministrations and the gentle caress of your hand in his hair, lied.. rin.
you didn't have to ask to understand his inner turmoil. that was one of the things rin appreciated—even adored about you. you understood him in ways that didn't require neither big confessions nor complex explanations.
only the art of silent understanding; and that alone meant more to him than any grand profession of love.

Fifth and sixth day of YuMay!
Sometimes the most enjoyable dates are at home alone and in complete silence, and this is the most common option for them, except for a walk in the woods. Finally, they ate something more satisfying than gas station sandwiches. The seventh day I decided to skip
