what did it mean when he plucked an eyelash off her cheek and asked her to make a wish what did it mean when they hugged each other after getting 50 percent and didn’t let go for longer than a moment what did it mean when he said there must still be some good in her if she felt bad for doing morally questionable things and she already knew she had done something to hurt him
It’s nice to see that everyone agrees that Ingrid has more chemistry with Z than the two white men.
I watched the Partner Track recently on Netix and it was a fun Friday evening watch so I thought I would read the book.
TLDR: the book is very different but still worth reading if you're prepared for essentially a different story
Netflix pretty much took the name Ingrid and that she's a lawyer.... and that's about it. I get that they're making a series (possibly mutiple) worth of content but the differences were jarring. Its still worth a read but fans of the show should be prepared for essentially a completely different book.
Spoilers:
Murphy is not an exalted English soul mate, he's an existing colleague and actually more sexist/racist/destructive than Dan in the series. In fact content warning for some of the things he says. They're ugly.
And if one of your fave things in the series was the friendship between Rachel, Tyler and Ingrid than the book will disappoint. Theyre mostly footnotes.
Another difference is Ingrid is Chinese American in the books, whereas she is Korean American in the series so people looking to see themselves represented in the book after watching the show might be disappointed.
It still delves into worthwhile topics about racism and sexism in law and Ingrid is a 3D, well written character. Arden Cho does her justice. But a lot of the popular elements of the show (cough Z cough) are not in the book.
I have thoughts on Ingrid and Murphy in Partner Track.
Spoilers ahead!
So I don’t know if I’m really rooting for them as endgame (Ingrid and Z just have such great chemistry) but I do know that I don’t want this betrayal to be how they end. Murphy is a snake and obviously has some secrets that he’s still hiding, but I do truly believe that he cares for Ingrid. Once he knew he’d made partner over her, there was no reason to stay with her other than that he just wanted to. And saying that he loved her in the last episode in no way benefits him, so I do think he really believes that he loves her. Is it possibly a very twisted love in which he puts his own needs ahead of hers at every turn? Possibly. But I really want to believe that he loves her in some way. And about the partner thing, he looked so surprised when his name was called instead of her’s. Maybe he’s just a good actor, but in that moment he looked so shocked. She was the first person he looked at when his name was called, and he looked like he was concerned for her rather than happy for himself. I guess I’m just hoping that him telling Marty about the arrest is somehow a misunderstanding. If it wasn’t, I just don’t see how he betrayed her confidence like that, stole her promotion from her, then continued with a relationship with her in which he got a new apartment for her and told her he loved her. It’s all just very weird. Basically, I need a season 2 to let me know just how much I need to hate this man.
My baby Z ❤️❤️❤️
He’s so hawttttttt!🥵🥵🥵
PARTNER TRACK THOUGHTS-
(Just started episode 8)
Nick is super sweet to Ingrid. But it feels like one of those couples where they're perfect on paper, so one of them feels like they should be together. But really if they stick it out, they'll be settling.
I love Dominic Sherwood, but Murphy bores me. He feels like your average fuck boy. "Love at first sight" you fuck at a wedding and never speak for years until your paths cross again? I'm 23 and love a cheesy trope but c'mon.
Z? Give me a good slow burn with Z. Only a couple small moments by end of episode 7 but I can see it. And I want it.
Sidenote- Justin Coleman is adorable and I love him. That's the man I'd want.
Z is right there ingrid!! he will treat you right!!!!
