My Predictions for Sofia the First: Royal Magic

(Prior to any trailers or basically any official announcements)

• There will be a change in the animation style to better align with how the characters appear in Elena of Avalor’s finale

• Cedric will become a teacher as Charmswell- he completed his arc as royal sorcerer and is a fan favorite, they will want him in a lot of episodes

• Miss Nettle will be a teacher at Charmswell- there was confirmation “a certain fairy” is in the show but that could very well be referring to Chrysta. Miss Nettle seemed to actually like teaching though, and post-reform she could be an interesting side character

• Sofia being a Mary Sue- I honestly never felt this was an issue in the original series but am skeptical for the new one. Yes, the amulet does make her pretty OP but she still has flaws and works hard for what she wants (outside of good deed powers which she never caused intentionally). However the synopsis saying she finds out she’s the most magical princesses in the land doesn’t bode well for a balanced character. There’s going to be some “the magic is the power within you, the amulet is just a vessel for you to use it” spiel or something

• Not enough focus on Sofia being a Protector or Storykeeper- Craig saying that the original series won’t be required viewing for the new one and that old storylines will be put on the back burner means we will barely hear about Sofia’s entire season 4 arc for at least the first 10 episodes. The show almost forgot she was Storykeeper in the original run ffs

• Amber goes to EverRealm Academy- this should be a given but there’s discourse about the possibility of her ending up at Charmswell. Which would be stupid.

• Quirky classmates that Sofia becomes close with way too fast- this is unfortunately an issue with shows appealing to kids attention spans. In the first episode the main character will meet their group of friends for the first time and in the second episode they act like they’re best friends (Elena for example…). It is god awful pacing and I guarantee it will happen. Also they’ll all lowkey be messes and Sofia has to fix all their problems as per

• The amulet no longer being a secret- Sofias friend group, family, and bystanders learn about its powers in the finale and she’s literally going to school for magic. I have to believe it will be difficult to hide there

• Canon queer rep- it’s 2025 and FireBuds did it. Cmon Craig, make one of Sofia’s new friends have two queen moms. Or just make Cedric kiss a dude, we all know it’s coming

• Obnoxious baby/animal character that no one likes but the creators think it’ll be a hit for some reason- it happens in so many cartoons. Stop it.

• New James voice actor- it’s already happened multiple times, and as much as I desperately want Zach back to play him I’m not sure if it’ll happen

• Darcy back as Amber- please. Please I’m begging. She hasn’t been confirmed yet but no one can replace her. DARCY PLEASE

• Clover relearns the same lesson he already learned 3 times before- I love you bud but it keeps happening
