Zaree, The Sylvari Mermaid Colored Pencil Illustration

The final illustration piece for my sylvari-gone-mermaid, Zaree.  Starting back in May, I made mermaids out of all my Guild Wars 2 girls. I wanted to do something particularly special for my main character and decided to make a full illustration for her. Originally, I was thinking of a coral reef, but a friend suggested an anemone garden. I loved the idea. Thanks, Donari! Also, ranger companions having their own rebreather in the water (for land-based creatures) is definitely my favorite head canon for how they stay underwater with you so long.

Zaree Van Helsing

Inktober Day Six's prompt is "Sword". 

I did a crossover fanart Friday with Van Hellsing and one of my Guild Wars 2 characters. She is looking quite grim compared her usual self, but it was a fun mashup to create. 

Had my first real trouble with this one blending flat blacks and cross-hatching, and I may have gone a little overboard with all the hatching as well. Things to practice!

Zaree, The Sylvari Mermaid

My main girl, Zaree, as a mermaid.

I saved her for last because I wanted to do some fancier colored pencil work with her. This is really a teaser look at her initial pencil drawing. I plan to continue, so expect to see her again in the future. I have a good start on a detailed background of a sea anemone garden that she is swimming in, to give you a taste of what is part of her final piece.
