Beirut Sound Sniper: Zeid Hamdan

Lebanon -

The greatest and most powerful revolutions often start very quietly, hidden in the shadows and inexplicably at places or instances where they are least likely to mushroom.  At the age of 12, Zeid Hamdan began his musical journey as a true vagabond. Today, Hamdan is the true face of Lebanese underground music and trip hop.

He rose to fame through the projects like Soapkills, Shift Z, Kazamada and several other artistic collaborations that have led him to be known as the ‘Father of the Lebanese underground’. He’s even been jailed for defamation charges against Lebanese president General Suleiman in his song ‘Go home, Suleiman!’ which received widespread acknowledgement online.

Hamdan spoke to Sahil Sharma about his experiences and the passion within that drives him on the road less taken.
