Though They With Winter Meet
Before they became legends, they were people.
Hyrule is fated to fall. No mortal hand can change what the gods have fated to fade — but Princess Zelda is determined to mitigate harm as much as possible for as many souls as possible. From the day she left Nayru’s Cauldron on her seventeenth birthday a Confirmed Zelda bearing the blessings of the Three, she has labored for years under her own name and a thousand aliases to improve conditions for common folk of Hyrule and her neighbors alike — and lay foundations for a stable, prosperous future without royals steering the ship of state.
Last winter, for the first time since the devastation of the Hylian Civil Wars, the Gerudo sent a delegation to the peace summit. A mysterious thief hidden among the diplomats confronted her then, and for nine months since the young witchking of the golden people has sent letters and gifts and challenges through his network of spies. Now he wants to meet her near the border outside the restrictions of official protocol.
It could be a trap.
It could be the best chance they have for a happier future — for everyone.
Rated: E for eventual smut

For today’s prompt I offer a fresh entry in the Even To The Edge series. Although most of the tales are largely set in the ‘current’ era adjacent to Windwaker, this entire arc is set firmly in the past, from Zelda Rainbringer’s perspective. This one is (eventually) more explicit than other entries in the series, while being mostly about wallowing in the early stages of their relationship. The first two chapters are up today, and the rest will follow over time, along with the other @zelgan-week longfics.
I hope you enjoy.

“When you break these patterns, it never means any good thing. What fresh trouble weighs on your spirit that you speak of omens?”
“Nothing,” he lied. “Or nothing new. It is merely the season for omens to come to those with the wit to watch for them, when the blood moon rises.”
“Mmm. Aren’t you a little old to be staying up all night to catch a fairy at mischief?”
“Caught you, didn’t I?” he said with a shrug.

Opening volley of a little Zelgan concept for the era of WindWaker that’s been kicking around the studio for a decade, finally getting around to fleshing it out for @zelgan-week …
“One thousand rupee,” echoed Lyrne.
“Technically one thousand ten after tax.”
Lyrne threw her head back and howled with laughter.
“Yes. It happened. It really did, in fact, happen,” said Zelda, giggling a little over her own wine.
Lyrne roared, halfway hysterical. “It did, I can’t believe it, no one else would, but it did, and they’re right there. Next to you. Like — like bread waiting for morning. Like nothing. What is even happening?”
“That part I’m not sure, but the why is because of him.”
“Well, I may not be a walking library like you, princess, but I am smart enough to figure that.”
“I knew I’d never stop thinking about them if I walked away,” said Zelda. “At least they’re versatile?”
“That I’ll grant,” said Lyrne between helpless giggles. “But you cannot persuade me you dreamed him hung like either of those things.”
“Oh, not at all. The olivewood boy on the center display in the red rooms, with the blushing effect and the gold dust? That was the closest I saw and even that didn’t really capture his likeness either. Too thin, I think. Or maybe the curve of the taper is off? Not sure.”
“Too thin? The olivewood monster?”
“Anyway, that one’s not the point. The point is, I mean, fuck, just look at the box.”
“It is a very beautiful box,” agreed Lyrne, coughing.

Another little offering for @zelgan-week day 1, for the Sun and Moon prompt. The connection between story and prompt ended up a little more oblique than I expected, as the full text of the legend referenced throughout didn’t feel right in the dialogue by the end.
All eight chapters will be added through the evening. ☺️
Title: Memories and Lessons Fandom: Legend of Zelda (General/AU) Pairing: Zelgan Words: 500 Summary: Romance to the tune of a piano. Notes: So I just found out that it's Zelgan Week. I'm a little late but I wanted to contribute something, so here this is! Memories and Lessons was the prompt for Saturday, and I immediately thought about this lovely photoset when I read it- this turned out a lot different than my first vision, but I like it nonetheless. Many thanks to zavery-writes for help with Gan's characterization!
Her fingers fly across the keys of the piano playfully, an elegant melody sounding in the air around her as the Princess Zelda Hyrule hums along to the tune. “You see, you just have to keep on tempo,” she explains with her head inclined towards her companion, eyes closed and a smile gracing her lips as she loses herself in the sound. “You try now.”
