I gotta know, between Tav and Astarion (and Zena and Din if you're feeling it) who wears the "I'm with stupid" shirt? And does the other wear the matching "I'm stupid" shirt?

This is hard, because I don't think Ace!Tav would buy the shirt. They might get annoyed with Astarion, but they'll just call him an idiot to his face. They don't need a shirt for it and. let's face it, Astarion can be very sensitive about these things. Astarion, however, would think it's hilarious.

So I want to say Astarion buys the shirt with his saying "I'm with stupid" and Ace!Tav deciding to indulge him and wear the "I'm stupid" shirt. However, the rest of the group is divided about how accurate that actually is. On the one hand, Ace!Tav can be clueless about certain things and often bites off more than they can chew, which can be foolish. On the other hand, Astarion has never come up with a plan ever in his life and still goes in with full gusto.

They're different types of stupid is what I'm saying.

I also feel like I need to make it very clear that is anybody else accuses Ace!Tav of being stupid, Astarion is more than willing to tear their throat out.

Takeaways from reflecting on your kick-ass writing, or kick-ass lack of writing, during a year more focused on survival than perhaps any other:

This is the year for OC appreciation I guess. My apologies for everyone who follows me for other reasons. COVID finally got to me it seems. I wasn’t as productive as I wanted, but I did write more drabbles then I thought. Maybe next year will be better.

Most surprising fic you wrote this year:

Probably all my Logyn stuff. I didn’t realize the Sigyn fandom was so vocal, but I guess we have the Loki series to thank for that.

How you grew as a writer this year:

I certainly became more confident and open about my OCs.

What’s coming in 2021:

I haven’t the slightest idea. I don’t want to make any promises I can’t keep. Hopefully I’ll complete some series, but who knows.

Word Count: 1,173

It was rare for Din to get really hurt. Between his warrior training and beskar armor, not much could get past him. Still, everyone had bad days. 

He stumbled into the small room he and Zena had paid out for the week. The weight of his armor dragged him down, making his steps sound hard and heavy against the worn wooden boards. He didn’t need to say a word for Zena to know something was wrong. 

The door barely closed behind him before she was at his side, allowing him to lean against her as she guided them to the bed. 

“What happened?” 

“Ambush,” he answered.  “They wanted the armor.”

He let out a hiss of pain as she sat him down.  The men who had cornered him had obviously done it before. They knew exactly which parts of his body weren’t protected, aiming primarily at his arms, sides and lower back. Mustn’t damage the merchandise after all. 

He had a strong suspicion most of his body would be covered in bruises by the next morning. But, the main thing occupying his mind was the knife wound right below his back shoulder. 

“Did you get anything useful?” Zena asked, her fingers already occupying themselves with the straps of his armor.

“No,” he huffed. “Just another dead end.” 

She didn’t say anything encouraging, which he was grateful for. Zena was, at the end of the day, a realist. They both knew that this little detour meant they were back to square one. No use dwelling on it. 

He instead focused his attention on what was in front of him; namely, the woman currently pulling off his chest plate with a care he never imagined anyone besides a Mandalorian possessing. 

This was still new. It had only been a month since she had seen his face. He knew her well enough to know she wouldn’t have taken offense if he put the helmet back on and never spoke of it again.  He tried to persuade himself to do just that, but it was useless. He had wanted her to see him for too long to go back. 

They had slipped into this new understanding just as they had slipped into everything else. It was natural and easy and just about the only good thing he had left. He knew, at some point, a conversation needed to be had, but he was in no hurry. 

Zena pulled off the last of his arm guards, placing them gently with the rest before looking up at him. 

“Do you want to keep it on?” she asked.

He didn’t need to ask what she was referring to. He simply shook his head and let her do the rest. 

He wasn’t used to the sensation. Every time he felt her fingers brush against the underside of his jaw, his breath left and his heart pounded.  His helmet slipped off with ease allowing the cool night air to brush against his skin. 

It was the only time in the whole process he felt truly exposed. His instinct was still too look down, anything to avoid being seen. He kept his eyes forward all the same. It was his choice, he wasn’t going to shy away now. 

He was rewarded with a soft smile and the touch of her hand brushing his hair back from his forehead before settling against his cheek. He melted into her, letting out a small sigh of relief.  Her hands weren’t soft. They were rough with work, cuts and wire burns, but they were hers. He’d know her touch even if he were blind, deaf and senseless. 

“Better?” she asked. 

He nodded, taking a moment to turn his head and press a small kiss to her palm. 

She squeezed his hand in return before moving to lift his undershirt off. 

He was quickly reminded of the throbbing of his shoulder as he tried to help her.  Only one arm was truly useful.  He managed to get at least one arm out, leaving Zena to finish the rest. 

He let out a hiss in pain as the fabric peeled away from his skin, taking some of the dried blood with it. 

The second Zena saw the stained fabric, she was up like a shot taking a place behind him on the bed. 

“Dank farrik,” she cursed. “Why didn’t you say anything earlier?” 

“It looks worse than it is,” he promised. Of course, it didn’t feel that way. 

Zena only cursed some more, mumbling something about, “being an idiot” and “not knowing how he survived this long” as she made her way to the refresher.  A moment later she came out carrying a small bundle of towels, bowl of water and a med pack. 

Din made a point not to say anything. Any word on his part would only annoy her. Besides, she was right. It was an obvious trap he should have known better than to walk into. He also was starting to question himself on how he survived so long without her. Maybe he was getting sloppy. It was easier to forget caution when he knew if worse came to worse, she’d be there to help put him back together. 

A sting of pain brought him out of his thoughts. He held back a curse, forcing himself to breath through his nose as she cleaned the wound.

“Sorry,” she said, not sounding all that sorry. “It’s not too deep though. Shouldn’t need any stitching.” 

He felt the brush of a dry towel before a more soothing sensation spread across his back shoulder. He supposed he was lucky a bacta patch was all he needed. 

“Anything else you failed to mention?” she asked. 

He shook his head. 

He couldn’t see her, but he could hear the small breath of relief and felt her eyes on his back.  Her touch came next trailing carefully across his skin, at the old scars and new bruises surely starting to form. 

“Do you need help putting everything back on?” she asked softly. 

He knew he should say yes. They weren’t in the safety of the Crest. At any time the owner could walk in and see him fully without his armor. He had barely been out of it since they separated from Fett. It would also mean Zena would have to stop touching him. 

“Not tonight,” he murmured. 

As if reading his mind, Zena pulled herself closer, wrapping her arms around him as she pressed her lips just above the patch. 

He sank into her, any and all tension of the day leaving his body in her embrace. 

“We’ll find them,” she whispered, her chin now resting on his shoulder. “I’m sure of it.”

He leaned his head against hers, closing his eyes as that simple little word reverberated through him; we.  He didn’t know when he and Zena became we, but there was no denying that was who they were. Whatever they did going forward, it would be the two of them together. Despite everything, he smiled. 

“I know we will.”

16. Can they stay up all night just talking?

That's honestly their routine and how they first started to really get to know each other. When Zena first started traveling with him, she bought a large blanket at one of the local markets to act as a barrier between her half the crest and his. That way he didn't have to sleep in his armor since she wouldn't be able to see him and vice versa. They then would spend the night talking, just...talking and learning about each other bit by bit until sleep finally took one of them.

54. Who’s more likely to carry the other to bed?

Din, but that's mainly because there is no way in hell Zena could carry him in full armor.

There have been a few occasions where Zena has passed on at a work bench swearing she's only close her eyes for ten minutes before getting back to work. Din would then decide to take initiative and just get her to bed, pulling her into his arms and to a proper bed with a mattress and everything.

The shock of the cool beskar on her skin is usually enough for her to open her eyes and grumble about needing to get back to work before she starts nodding off again. Din has to smile every time. It's not often he can honestly describe Zena as adorable, but curled up in his arms certainly qualifies.

"I didn't know where my life was going," Zena admitted. "All I really wanted was to get out. I know when I first came onto this ship I said a lot of things, but the truth is, I'm lucky to have met you."

A long silence came from the other side the the blanket.

"Din?" she asked. "You still with me?"

"Yes," came a rough reply. "I just...can you close your eyes for a moment?"

She froze unsure of what to say, but her head nodding on impulse. It took her a moment to remember he couldn't see her. "Of course," she answered before closing her eyes tight.

She hear a small shuffle of movement followed by the subtle russel of fabric.

As tempted as she was, she didn't dare so much as peak even as she felt a hand wrap around her own.

Her breath stopped in her chest. It wasn't rough leather she was feeling, but skin; real, rough, human skin. He touch was so warm compared to hers. She could feel the small cuts and callouses that were only natural to someone like him. Still, his touch was gentle as if own work worn hands were made of the finest silk.

"I'm lucky to have met you too," he whispered. "More than I ever could have realized."

SPOILERS FOR BOOK OF BOBA FETT, EPISODE 5!

He shouldn't have been surprised Zena was still there.

The light of Motto's workshop was on, even after both suns had set hours ago. Motto herself was nowhere to be seen, and all the droids were in their charging stations, leaving just Zena, passed out against the newly plated wing.

Din felt himself smile at the site. As much as she liked to complain about never having a proper place to sleep, she really could sleep anywhere when she set her mind to it.

He crept quietly to her side. He didn’t want to startle her, but he was also aware her neck would hate her in the morning.

Gently, he placed his hand on her elbow, shaking her slightly.

Her head shot up in an instant, the wrench in her hand clattering to the stone floor in a flurry of confusion.

"I'm up!" she announced, her voice still thick with sleep.

He stepped back, suppressing a laugh at her flustered state. There were so few moments he could reasonably call her adorable, he had to enjoy it.

She shook her head, running a hand down her face as her eyes came back into focus.

"I think I figured out how to stabilize the thrusters," she said, her hands fumbling over the wing as she tried to push herself up into a standing position. "Get me ah...thing...list...parts. We need parts."

"I think you need some sleep first."

She let out a huff as she finally got her feet to obey, planting themselves firmly on the ground as she straightened.

"I was sleeping," she countered. "Now I'm not. It's fine."

She swayed slightly.

Din moved closer, taking her arm to keep her steady.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

She took a moment to center herself before blinking slowly up at him.

"Okay, I might need some sleep," she conceded. "More sleep. With pillows."

"I think that can be arranged," Din said, his smile entering his voice.

Zena nodded, before turning back the ship and giving it a soft pat.

"I'll be back in the morning sweetheart, don't you worry."

Din couldn't help but feel a little insulted at the gesture. "You never used to say that to the Crest."

"That's because the Crest was a pile of junk that needed to be whipped into shape. She," she pointed to the ship, "needs a more gentle touch."

He pressed his lips into a line.

Zena's eyes softened then, as if somehow she could see through his helmet.

"I know you miss the Crest," she said. "But, she's going to work. I'm going to get her working. Promise."

He let out a sigh, nodding his head. "I know."

A small smile tugged at Zena’s lips as she turned fully towards him, taking his hands in hers.

He didn't even need to think about it. In one soft motion, he pressed his forehead to hers.

For a long moment, he allowed everything else to fall away. He concentrated on her hands, her breathing, her smell. Closing his eyes, he thought about the beskar on her wrist and all that it meant.

So many things had changed so quickly, but she was still with him. He focused on that, letting it quiet the storm of conflicting thoughts and emotions in his mind. She wasn’t going anywhere.

"C'mon," she said, gently. "Let's go to bed."

Din didn’t say anything. He simply wrapped an arm around her, allowing her to lean against him as he guided them back to their room.

It was going to be alright. Whatever came next, they would figure it out. Even if all they had to work with was a pile of scraps.

“A spaceman came traveling on his ship from afar…” for Zena and Din?

"A spaceman came traveling on his ship from afar..." she began. That was how most star stories started anyway. Granted it'd been a while since she heard one.

Grogu lay in his cradle, his eyes and ears dropping even as he tried to keep awake.

"And he..." she paused, or rather stalled. She never claimed to be a good story teller. "...found himself on a world that the rest of the galaxy had forgotten, which was what he wanted. Because if everyone forgets where you are they can't find you."

Grogu's eyes were blinking slower now, the time shut becoming longer and longer.

"And...he needed to keep his son safe. So he came ready to settle down and be forgotten, at least for a little while. But it's never as easy as all that. Because on that planet so very far away, there was also a girl who was tired of being forgotten.

"And so, when he had to leave, she went with him because deep down in her heart, she knew, of everyone she had known, he would be the last to forget her."

"Nobody could forget you."

Zena turned around to see Din standing directly behind her. She nearly cursed him out. It should be illegal for a man in metal armor to move silently on metal flooring.

"That hasn't been my experience."
