Hi. Welcome to a my retrospective on the Red Army outfit designs from the game Ikemen Revolution. This had some spoilers for all of their routes, though I doubt anyone will see this.
red army + christmas prompt 4
Ha, this was a blast to think about. They do seem the type to get proper pictures together at least once a year, and Christmas definitely seems like a fantastic time to do that. Thanks so much for sending this in!
Imagine your Ocs taking a group picture for their holiday greeting cards.
Who is giving directives on how to pose?
Unlike the Black Army, I do believe that the Christmas card photographs for the Red Army are very much a formal event. Instead of being taken by a member of the army who enjoys photography, Lancelot gets a professional photographer to come in for the occasion. The members of the Red Army are expected to show up ready and Lancelot and the ‘cards’ have a large say in the direction of the photographs but otherwise the photographer is in charge of everything. They’re the one who directs people on how to pose, how to hold their face, what to do with props, and everything along those lines. Lancelot expects everyone to listen to the photographer, though he may sometimes push back against them.
How do they pose?
As said, this is a professional photoshoot. There’s a lot of pictures taken by the photographer and their assistants. It’s not just like, fifty or sixty pictures taken. This is a much larger affair – several hundreds of pictures are taken. There’s pictures taken from a wide perspective of the whole of the army, there’s pictures focusing in on each team within the army, there’s pictures of the cards taken as a group, there’s pictures of Lancelot and the ‘cards’, there’s individual photos taken of each army member that they can choose to purchase to use in whatever way they wish, be it sending it home to their family or giving it to a lover. The photographer and their assistants really find ways to have everyone pose in ways that not only look aesthetically pleasing but also capture their personalities well.
Who ruins the picture by making faces?
There’s a lot of photographs that end up being scrapped because of Edgar pulling some sort of face or holding up bunny ears behind someone’s head, normally Jonah’s. Conversely, while Jonah will pose the best for photographs (it’s almost impossible to take a bad picture of the man), he’ll end up ruining some shots by reacting brashly or getting annoyed at another member of the army and forgetting that he’s supposed to be posing.
Who keeps saying ‘WAIT I’m not ready’ until they find the perfect angle?
Nobody – Lancelot runs a tight ship in a lot of ways and his Army members know their jobs for the day. Their task is simple – always be ready, act as if the camera is going to snap at any instant and be instantly prepared for it.
What are they wearing? Are they matching? Is there a theme?
Lancelot actually really, really likes the look of the Red Army’s uniforms. Even if he wasn’t born into his position, he thinks that he would have grown up to join, just for the chance to wear the uniform. Because the photographs are of the Army as a whole, despite it being Christmas, in his mind it only makes sense for them all to be in full Red Army formal uniform. Instead, the pictures should be made merrier and more festive with good backdrops and props.
Who shows up in something other than the agreed upon outfit?
It’s Kyle. While he probably remembers, after arriving, that it was supposed to be his formal Red Army uniform, he rocks up in his everyday wear, wearing his lab coat, looking mussed and slightly hung-over. He is definitely hung-over, enough so that he doesn’t automatically volunteer to head back up and change into his formal attire. He looks fine enough and it’s how everyone sees him day after day anyway, right?
Who is the most reluctant to be in the picture?
Zero finds posing for pictures to be a really uncomfortable experience. He feels awkward the entire time and entirely all too self-conscious about himself. Is he doing something weird with his face? Is he making too much eye contact with the camera? Is he posing like he’s supposed to? He gets very up into his head during the entire photoshoot and he prays for it to end before it ever even gets started. It doesn’t help that Edgar might be teasing his protégé during the entire photoshoot, doing things to make Zero ‘loosen up’ a little but mostly just annoying him.
What is written on the card?
‘The Red Army wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas. May the joy of the holidays touch each and every one of your hearts, may peace and goodwill reign.’
What background do they choose?
Again, because they’re all decked out in the Army uniforms, I think Lancelot is really determined that every background should be incredibly festive. Shots done out in the snow, with the Red Army’s headquarters, all decorated for the holiday, are definitely taken, but so are pictures where the background is one where everyone’s posed around a Christmas tree or by a roaring fire, with ornaments, boughs of holly, ribbons, and pinecones strung around.
Who do they send the cards to?
As mentioned, each of the Army members are able to purchase their pictures for whatever use they want to make of it. Lancelot is very purposeful in who he sends the cards to though – he distributes them to all the major business owners or large, well-known families in the area and personally signs with a sweet message, unique to each soldier, to the families of each of his soldiers.
I haven’t lost my touch with Zero it seems!!
i know you
I love him he's so sweet 🥺😭
My first impressions of the ikerev army boys
Red army:
Lancelot- I saw this guy and immediately thought to myself "Oh heck no". To be honest, I think that says enough about what I think of him.
Jonah- I thought that he was pretty and honestly if he wasn't so snobby in the prologue I would have played his route first. Luckily I know that he isn't completely like that so I might play his route after Fenrir's.
Edgar- he looks like the type of guy to get away with a murder. Super creeped out but also intrigued because he seems really interesting and secretive.
Kyle- I saw him and just could not get over how cute he was. Like, he just seemed so adorable and I can't wait to play his route.
Zero- The first thing I saw was his tattoo and I was kinda attracted to him. He seemed like he was really kind hearted but just shy. Usually guys like this aren't my type but he stood out pretty well. Love him.
Black army:
Ray- he seemed like a cat guy when I first saw him in the prologue and honestly, I'm surprised I could tell so early on. Haven't played his route yet but I watched a few videos of the route mainly because I wanted to see if he was, in fact, a cat person.
Sirius- "DAMN, CYBIRD HOW DID YOU MAKE SOMEONE THIS HOT-" Loved him. The piercings, the hair, the eyes, EVERYTHING. Ended up playing his route first and I adored it. Love him so much, wish he were real honestly because I would marry him. His personality is just so hot and you can see that at the beginning.
Luka- Awwww. He was so cute. I didn't want to play his route tbh because I dont want to date him. But he's really cute and I thought that hes a lot like a shy older sibling.
Seth- Big sister energy. 100%. Also, his hair looks like something that could be in a shampoo commercial.
Fenrir- "Yes, you're hot but really, I'm unsure about you. Might play your route, who knows." I'm currently playing his route. I like him a lot, but still not as much as Sirius.
