CHAPTER 14: OUUUU SHIII

Sorry for taking forever to post!! Happy late birthday, Rudo!!
You couldn't stop thinking about the bold move you made that night. You didn't even really think about it until you realized how fast you were making your relationship go with Rudo. That was your first date, and you felt like you ruined it with that dumb kiss!
But does it really count as a kiss? It was just on the cheek, right? You were 90% sure Napoleon did that with his friends or something. Should you ask Rudo about how he felt?
Never mind. He's busy with a mission, so you couldn't hang out today. But that's okay! That gives you enough time to set up a birthday surprise! How do you know this info? From Semui, duh! She didn't understand why you made a big deal about it until you told her about how they celebrate up on the Sphere.
You went out and bought confetti, balloons, and gifts to celebrate. You didn't have to buy a cake(obviously because you could make one on your own) so all you had to do was get to decorating. It wasn't that hard, maybe climbing the walls to put up some things, but that was about it. The tricky party was decorating the cake.
You had no clue what to put on it! Rudo likes sweets, sure, but this has to be just as sweet and awesome as him, right?! It would've been easier if you asked him what kind of cake he liked, but this is supposed to be a surprise!
"FUUUUUUCKKKK!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING???" you exclaimed, pulling at your hair. All you did was add some small swirls, yet it still looked like crap.
Silence. You were really hoping someone would come in and help, or something.
You managed to scrape together a decent looking cake, which wasn't too flashy nor ugly, with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RUDO!" written in red icing on the top. You had about everything set up. You also thought it'd be funny to put a small picture of Rudo on the cake, so you borrowed Corvus's printer for a couple of minutes and taped the photo onto a toothpick.
The lounge was covered in confetti and colorful banners, the cake on the table. "Woooow.... This is so ass!!" you muttered to yourself, biting your nail.
"Language, Y/N." you spun around and saw Corvus standing at the door.
"Oh, hi Mr. Corvus! Do you like what I did with everything?" you asked, hope gleaming in your eyes.
He looked around at all the decorations and food, nodding. "This looks wonderful. Who's birthday is it?"
"Rudo's!" you beamed at the compliment. "Do you think it looks okay? Rudo said that people take birthdays WAY more serious up on the Sphere, and I love doing nice stuff, so I wanted to make a suprise party for him!"
"Rudo will love this, especially the cake." Corvus let out a chuckle. "Since it's a party, I'll let everyone know about it. Perhaps they'll bring some gifts aswell."
Gifts? Wait... "Shit, I forgot to get a present!"
"Language."
"Crap, I forgot to get a present!"
You thanked Corvus before running to the nearest shop, sighing as you shoved a bunch of plushies and candy onto the counter.
"You're buying all this for yourself, kiddo?" some big southern man scanned your items.
You sighed, pulling out your wallet. "Nah, it's for my boyfriend. Special occasion, y'know, cool stuff like that."
"How cute." he laughed, still scanning your things. It was a little slower than you'd like, since he had one arm, but you didn't mind. "Well, that'll be $36.79."
You paid for your things and left the store, running back to HQ and carefully putting the gifts into a colorful gift bag. Now everything was perfect!
"What's all this for?" Guita peeked her head into the room, along with Dear by her side.
"Hey guys! It's Rudo's birthday, so I'm throwing a party! Buncha food and sweets." you explained, watching the two eye the room with excitement. "Wanna help?"
Guita nodded and ran off somewhere. Dear just stood there staring so you just gave him a cupcake and he left with Guita. They both came back in a couple minutes with kaiju figures and party hats, dragging along Bro with them.
"Look, look! The hats were super duper easy to make, and we used the extra paper to make mini ones for the kaiju!" Guita said, Dear nodding beside her.
"Corvus told me about the party, this looks nice." Bro added, giving you a thumbs up.
"Thanks!! I've gotten everything done, so all I gotta do is wait for everyone to show up!"
"Corvus told everyone through the chokers, I think Rudo will be very happy to hear you did all of this for him."

Another tiring day of fighting trash and annoying stenches, the mission was finally complete. Rudo almost felt like throwing up, his head bumping against the car window with every rock in the way.
"Wow, you kids must be EXHAUSTED." Enjin laughed, lighting a cigarette and blowing the smoke out of the window.
Riyo sighed, propping her feet up on top of the passenger seat. "Uh, duh! Not like you'd know, since you stood there and watched us suffer!"
"Whaaat? I wouldn't do that."
"Ya did. No offense." Zanka added, pulling trash out of his hair.
"None taken. Besides, I want to make sure you guys are independent. You all did great out there, y'know that?" Enjin smiled, looking into the rear view window to watch everyone's reactions.
Zanka paused before giggling to himself, Rudo was dozing off despite the horrible driving, Riyo just smiled and said "Thanks, unc!"
"Unc?? Riyo, I am NOT that old and you know that!"
"Haha, I'm kidding! I know, hilarious, don't throw out a rib laughing, 'kay?"
Enjin purposely swerved, Riyo making up some half assed apology and putting her feet down. His choker suddenly chirped, pressing two fingers to answer the call. "Yellow?"
It was Corvus, Riyo and Zanka perking up at the sound of his voice. "Enjin, is Rudo there?"
"Uhhhhh..." Enjin shot a quick glance behind himself at Rudo's sleeping face, drool dripping onto the door handle. "Yes. He's asleep, though."
"Good, good. See, Y/N's throwing a surprise birthday party for Rudo, I was hoping if you could possibly pitch in with the gifts."
"You got it, boss." Enjin agreed, turning into a random town and parking. Enjin turned to face Riyo and Zanka. "Listen. We're all gonna get a secret gift. Here's some money, keep it descreet. If Rudo calls us and asked where we are, we're gonna say we had to do a bathroom stop. Fair?"
Riyo and Zanka nodded, stepping out and walking to a store. "What should we get?" Riyo asked.
"Well, the budget for each of us is $25, so let's not buy anythin' too expensive. Probably candy." Zanka shrugged, walking off into the snacks section.
"Oh, true!" Riyo followed Zanka. "Hey, how many candies do you think Rudo HASN'T tried?"
"Uhh, none? His fatass eats anything sweet. He probably doesn't like spicy food, though."
"He's totally missing out."
Everyone went back into the car, silently looking at each others bags then back at Rudo, who was still sleeping.
"Just toss everything in the trunk, okay?" Enjin whispered, throwing a box into the back of the Jeep. Riyo and Zanka nodded and did the same.
The ride back to HQ was quiet, the sun shining down into the car and making the car hotter than it already was. "Jeez, it's hot." Riyo complained, fanning herself with her hand.
"I think we'll be home soon." Zanka mentioned, reaching over and turning on the AC. "This better?"
"Yeah, thanks." Riyo sighed, holding up a hand to get the sun out of her face.
Enjin suddenly slammed the breaks, Rudo hitting his head against the back of the drivers seat. "Rise and shine, sleeping beauty!"
"Ow! Turdface, what the hell..." Rudo grumbled, rubbing his sore nose and head. "We're already here?"
"Yup! C'mon, Rudo, I bet Y/N misses their boyfriend lots and lots." Riyo teased, stepping out the car and secretly taking the gifts out of the car. She then gestured to Enjin in a way that said "Where do I hide these??"
Enjin gave a shrug and gestured for Riyo to throw the bags to him, to which she did and hit Enjin in the face with one of them. "Ow!"
Rudo looked over at Enjin when he hissed. "You okay?"
"Uh... Yeah, just back pain. It's what happens when you're too manly, y'know, testosterone." Enjin lied, shoving the gifts under his jacket.
"More like too old." Riyo giggled, skipping towards the entrance. "Last one inside doesn't get candy!"
"What?! HEY!" Rudo ran inside kicking the doors open. He was barely one foot into the lounge room when BOOM! A confetti canon exploded in his face, covering him head to toe in confetti and glitter.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!" Everyone in the room shouted, Delmon yelling the loudest. Rudo rubbed his eyes and spat out the colorful paper that got in his mouth. "What the- Huh?"
"Surprise!! Haha!" you exclaimed, hugging Rudo. "Sorry if this is too much, I just wanted to celebrate your birthday the same way you did for me!" Rudo froze before wrapping his arms around you and reciprocating the hug.
"No, no! I love it! This is great!" This is a good time to try to smile, right? Rudo tried to force out a smile.
Zanka muttered something about "that ungrateful face", but you just laughed and pulled Rudo to the cake. "C'mon, c'mon!! I baked this cake, look, you're on it!"
"A cake? All for me?" Rudo asked, sitting down in front of the cake, watching you light the candles.
"No, dummy, it's for everyone." Enjin teased.
"Don't want another incident, right?" Riyo laughed.
OOC: I'm not writing them singing happy birthday but just imagine Delmon being the loudest mf there okay
"Make a wish!!" you whispered to Rudo. Rudo thought for a couple of seconds before blowing out the candles, everyone cheering.
You pulled the candles and picture-toothpicks out of the cakes when Enjin suddenly pretends to slip and shoves Rudo's face into the cake. "Whoops, my shoe laces!"
Rudo quickly resurfaced from the cake, slamming his hands on the table. "What the hell, Enjin?!" everyone was laughing. He looked over, and you were laughing too!! What?!
"You too, Y/N?!!"
"I'm so sorry, I can't- Hahaha!!" You would've kept laughing if Rudo hadn't rubbed a handful of the cake in your face. "Wh- Hey! It was Enjin who did it, not me!!"
Rudo followed by throwing a cupcake at Enjin, which he blocked with Umbreaker. Bastard, Rudo thought.
"I mean, look on the bright side, Rudo. Now you have the whole cake to yourself, since you rubbed your whole face in it." Enjin laughed, pointing to the smashed cake.
"You're the one who rubbed my face in it in the first place!"
"I slipped!"
"Whatever, turdbrains..." Rudo huffed, wiping his face and licking the cake off of his gloves. "Wow, this is really good."
"I knew you'd like red velvet!!" you grinned, licking the icing off of your face.
The rest of the party went well, everyone coming by to say happy birthday, most people dropping off gifts for Rudo. You gathered up the courage to ask Rudo to watch a movie in your room(with Enjin's permission) and he agreed. Of course, you both washed your faces before going to your room.
Here you both lay in bed, watching The Outsiders while Rudo opens his gifts. "Riyo got me a whole cup of blue icing, Zanka got me a bag of sugar, Enjin got me a card with $100 dollars, Eisha got me a sewing kit, and Follo got me a DIY book."
"Ooh, did you see what I got you?" you bounced with excitement.
"Oh, right, I was saving the best for last." You squealed from how sweet that sounded coming from him, Rudo giving you a quick glance before picking things out of the bag. "Woah, this is a lot... Did you really spend this much on me?"
"It's okay, they were super cheap!!" you dismissed, peeking into the bag. "Hey, you forgot this." you reached into the bag and pulled out a lollipop.
"Huh? How did I even miss-" As Rudo reached for the lollipop, you pulled it away and pecked him on the lips. He froze, sputtering with a red face.
"I'msorrysososossorry!! That was dumb!" You mumbled, pulling the blanket over your face.
Rudo yanked the blanket away. "Hey, it's okay, I swear! I uhm... I like kissing... you..."
"That's so cringey..."
"I know!" Rudo sighed, pulling you to sit up. "But I like it because I'm kissing <i>you!<i> Kissing someone else would be gross!"
"And cheating." you added.
"And cheating! So I don't mind if you kiss me, because I like you!" Rudo explained, his face still cherry red.
You giggled at his awkward reassurance, laying against him and looking at the TV. "Thank you, Rudo."
"No problem." Rudo nodded, watching with you. "Who're these guys?"
"That's Ponyboy, that's Johnny, that's Dally," you pointed to the characters. "that's Sodapop, that's Darry, and that's Cherry. Johnny's my favorite."
"Cool."
Silence fell over the both of you as you watched, the movie and both of your breaths combined being the only sounds heard.
"... The kiss kinda tasted like cake." Rudo mentioned.
"'Cause we just had cake, dummy." you giggled, glancing up at Rudo. "I'm sorry, though."
"For what?"
"For kissing you without asking. I don't know, it feels like I'm not giving you a chance to kiss me back."
"We can try again if you want." Rudo mentioned with a shrug.
"Seriously?" you sat up, picking at a scab on your chin.
"Yeah, but stop picking at your face first."
"Fine, I'll stop." you rolled your eyes, shifting in your spot. "Uh... Just let me know when, I guess..."
"Okay. Now."
You took a few deep breaths before slowly learning in, pressing your lips onto his gently. Rudo softly gripped your hand before melting into the kiss, leaning into it and closing his eyes.
The kiss was awkward but sweet, holding it for a second longer before pulling away. You stared at each other for a while, soaking in the moment until you realized what you did.
What do you even say after a kiss?? This was getting WAY too embarrassing just staring at each other.
"Ouuuu shiii."
"Fuck you mean 'ouuuu shit'?"
OOC AGAIN: lock the fuck in there's gonna be hurt/comfort that follows the plot from here on out.
