☝️🤓 it’s because the further you move toward the earth’s poles, the lower the angle of the sun is at the hottest parts of the day, meaning the radiation hits your whole body, causing it to feel 10-20 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading will tell you. People from tropical climes, aka close to the equator, are used to the sun’s radiation hitting a much smaller target- their head and shoulders.
Also the further you move toward the poles the more pronounced the difference between the length of day and night is. Worst part of a far-north (or south) heatwave is it doesn’t get dark long enough for meaningful cooling.
It’s not the heat. It very literally is the sun.

Instead of the classic list of blue links, Google Search will now also generate a custom page with an AI-generated summary of what you’re searching about, which will then trigger a conversation with AI Mode on the main page, allowing users to ask follow-up questions—similar to the kind of layout you would see when opening ChatGPT.

Go ahead and do the individual likes/reblogs/replies on each comment.
But every single iteration of the post should have the master aggregate notes at the bottom, all of which are attributed to OP and go to OP's activity.
That way OP of a piece of art or writing can in fact open any single iteration of the post, including the root post, and see and receive the full aggregate notes at the very bottom. And any single person who wants to see the full notes/tags/comments/etc can all do the same.
Then sure. Whatever. Have the notes in the middle additions for seeing filtered views. idgaf they can hang out.
I’m intending to submit this idea as feedback because I think it could cauterize 95% of the critical problems I have with this, without requiring tumblr to do a complete 180 on this.
If other people agree maybe you can submit the idea too. I’ll try to track down what’s the appropriate feedback form and link it to this post.

Overall, the support page is supposed to be the correct place to submit feedback. You could either use 'Feedback' or 'Social features' in the category dropdown for this. I might suggest Social Features, actually, since Feedback is getting floooodded. It might actually get fresh eyes like that. If not there, then staff has said they closely watch the Changes blog and use the feedback from there to make decisions. That's repeated in their current most popular post, which is explicitly reacting to the negative feedback and currently telling us to give it a few days to get used to it first.
That's also extremely flooded (and the replies are more angry), but staff has specifically stated they are using feedback from that post to make future calls, so it's guaranteed to have eyes.
Pls steal the notes back, @phantomrose96, I do not want them and they will do more good in your hands.

Funny enough, I had issues finding these comments, which I SAW in my activity feed, because when I went to my root post none of these comments existed. I had to go to my root post, go to MY second comment in the chain on the post (by digging it out of the notes), and THEN open the comments on THAT post to come find this.
I submitted feedback. I'll probably pepper this suggestion on the other feedback avenues over the coming days. (They're flooded now. Polite persistence probably carries weight here.)

"Hello! I have a suggestion that I think could be a reasonable middle ground on the Notes broken up by Reblog.
Just 2 modifications: 1] All iterations of a post continue to show an aggregate footer at the bottom with total replies, comments, and likes, from all chains. 2] All notes continue to go to the post's original author, as in show up in their activity, regardless of reblog chain.
With these two things, then the notes-per-reblog no longer cause problems!
All comments and replies would remain findable and engageable, via the aggregate footer at the bottom of the post. This is very important for ongoing engagement--people can only interact with replies if they can find them!
Users would NOT avoid commenting, because they can be assured in the knowledge their comment will no longer fracture the notes (aggregate footer covers that) and will no longer steal the post's engagement from the OP (OP receives all activity). I would not be afraid to comment "This art is amazing!" on someone's artwork, as I would not need to fear fracturing the reblog chain and taking their engagement. Avoiding commenting hesitance is so important as well, because engagement stands to plummet if users all hold their tongue to not "steal" a post.
Even right now, I'm struggling to find useful information on my own posts--posts which I know have comments and replies--because I cannot find which reblog has the replies. Finding comments means finding and stepping through all the comment chains of the entire post to even stand the chance to find what I remember seeing.
This is also making engagement look so small... Posts of mine with 50,000+ notes across different reblog chains and now so sparse and fractured and nearly impossible to sift through for information.
Please consider this suggestion!"

I recommend Element; it's very similar to Discord and has basically the same features but it's privacy-focused and both servers and DMs can both be encrypted so only the actual users of those rooms can read the messages.
This means unlike most popular chat apps, including and especially Discord, Element doesn't sell your conversations or tracking data to advertisers, because the company literally doesn't have access to that data in the first place.
I've used it for years and I think it's a natural fit for Discord users.

Our DM wanted us to kill the Doppelganger and gather some information, but instead we took Konstini to the city and had a boat ride with him on the lake.
Some wizard archaeologists and a farmer were kidnapped by possessed chicken cultists.
The chickens turned most of us into stone and Konste had a solo adventure in a wheelchair to get an antidote for our condition.
As you might have gathered by now, we tend to avoid battles whenever possible and prefer to make friends lol
We were sent to the Nine Hells to retrieve a first edition of "1000 stupid ways to die", but found a chained fire giant with a weird djinn hand instead. After severing the djinn hand, it attacked us and somehow this turned into a Smash fight on Final Destination lol
That's where we stand right now. I will keep updating this post haha

Mozilla, in its finite wisdom, embedded LLM bots into recent versions of Firefox for the vitally-important purpose of… naming tab groups. Now, some users are noticing CPU and power usage spikes caused by a background process called Inference.
Ugh. Reminder again for Firefox users to visit your about:config page, search for the browser.ml.chat.enabled key, and set that to false:
If yours says true then double-click it until it reads false.
Doing that turns off the AI chatbot features in Firefox, but also the stupid new LLM tab-naming feature that's rolling out.
if you want to turn off as much ai crap in firefox as possible, from this post on mozilla's connect forum, you should also set all these to false using about:config:

some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service (hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)

internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on

ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself

Oh man, I can't name a favourite tbh! I generally like good characters more than evil/edgy ones, so I think Wyll, Gale and Karlach are my top 3.
As for my romance options: I have finished the game 4 times at this point and always tried different options.
1st playthrough: I played as myself (human Paladin) and chose Wyll because he was the only one who wasn't constantly horny or pushy lmao He is a great guy, albeit it pretty plain and neglected by the narrative, compared to the other companions. Still, I love him for the demisexual king he is lol
2nd playthrough: I liked Halsin in my first run, but the age gap and the fact that I was already in a relationship with Wyll made me reject him. So in my 2nd playthrough I played as a middle-aged drow bard and chose him. Oh boy, it was a mistake. He revealed so many red flags and now everything he says just creeps me out. ^^'
3rd playthrough: This time I wanted to go against everything I usually stand for and believe in and played a fully evil Embrace!Durge githyanki sorcerer (yes, githyanki Durge makes no sense narrative-wise, but I didn't know that when I started lol) and chose Lae'zel. I didn't like it at all, but it was fitting for my Durge. I didn't get to see the end of the romance because she broke up with him in Act 3 when she devoted herself to Vlaakith.
4th playthrough: After all the atrocities I committed in the last run I wanted to do a Redemption!Durge (female Half-elf wizard) and chose Gale. And what can I say? I absolutely fell in love with him. He is sweet and kind, incredibly funny, nerdy, loves cats and can cook. He also has absolute negative rizz that somehow occasionally comes full circle and turns into the most romantic shit you've ever heard. I loved his arc of showing him that he is good and worthy as the man he is and that he doesn't need to prove himself. Teaching him to love himself the way he is is very sweet and rewarding. The only thing that bugs me is that he still has all his voicelines reminiscing about his great time with Mystra when you romance him. :/
5th playthrough: I only started it recently and am still in Act 1. It's a Wyll origin run and I want him to get together with Karlach. They've always been my companion OTP anyway. <3 So far I can say: Advantages of a Wyll origin run: More backstory and insight, unique dialogue options and reactions Disadvantage of a Wyll origin run: More Mizora... God, I hate that stupid, evil bitch so much!
