How to Make Friends

So me and my partner were out shopping today. We were at a hardware store and bought a wrench and a couple of plants. Because we just missed a bus we decided to go to a pet store. Decent enough store, they have a live-in vet and appear to take good care of the pets they sell. When we finally walked into the bird section (every other section pales compared to the bird section, doesn't mean the rest of the experience was bad at all) we found two cuties sitting there.

One of the two was looking attentively at my partner, who declared that they are making friends.

After a while 

Upon further examination, it turned out though that this sweetie's attention was aimed at something more on stomach level. It was then that my partner theorized that it wasn't their person the attention was directed at, it was this:

I guess the avian person was full of green-with-a-red-hat solidarity.
