“I dropped Chris once,” Eddie admits. 

He doesn’t think Maddie means to laugh. She quickly covers her mouth with her palm, but her eyes sparkle in the dim light. “How old was he?” “Three. I was on furlough. He was already small for his age because of the CP but…”

“They’re octopuses at that age. Octopi? Evan would know.” 

Eddie smiles ruefully at that and takes another swig of tequila. “He sure would. But yeah, I was prepared for the weight but not all the squirming. God, I felt like the worst parent in the world.” “But you’re so good with him now! Listen, I thought I let Jee drink floor cleaner once. I was crying on the phone to poison control and everything before I thought to smell it. Apple juice.” It’s Eddie’s turn to not-laugh. He can picture that scene all too well, is all. Maddie is an exceedingly tearful person. That’s something he’s learned that well over these past three months. 

“I made Buck give Chris the birds and the bees talk,” he confesses. 

Now Maddie doesn’t even try to hide her cackle. It’s nice, talking about him without also gaming out a new search plan or cursing the Yeso County Sheriff’s Department’s 2-person detective squad. 

“Tell me you listened in,” she says after she catches her breath.

“I was too embarrassed after I realized he’d asked to borrow my tablet because he was pulling up  a Powerpoint.”

“Did you at least vet it first?” Eddie laughs now, too. “Nah, I trusted him.” He catches himself. “Trust him.”

i added like 50 songs to my repertoire lately that are all from female industrial/post-hardcore bands so mostly that but also carry on wayward son ever since thursday 😭

Eddie has noticed Buck’s whole situation. Buck has now noticed that Eddie has noticed. They’ve both acknowledged it. If not in so many words at least in teasing and innuendos. 

It’s big. It’s really big. It’s special-tailoring-in-the-crotch big. It’s industrial-sized-vats-of-lube big. It makes foot-long hot dogs shrivel in shame. So what? Like a bullet scar that itches when it’s going to rain or persistent rising sea levels it’s just something they’re all going to have to live with. 

Everyone should really stop being so weird about it, actually.

Buck hobbles into the station locker room the next day. Eddie watches from the corner of his eye as Buck emits an audible hiss while shimmying out of his uncharacteristically baggy jeans to change into their uniform. 

“What’s wrong with you, Buckaroo?” Chim asks, always on the lookout for a new way to rag on his brother-in-law.

Buck extricates his foot from his jeans and sighs in relief. “New tattoo. I didn’t really think through the placement.” 

Eddie’s perfectly justified in glancing over. The white of a bandage peeks out from between Buck’s thighs. Eddie’s gaze drifts no higher. He, by now, has mastered the poker face of a card shark holding pocket aces.

“Have you checked it for infection?” Chimney asks. “Not it,” he adds. “Bet Eddie would do it for you, though.” Make me write here! 🚗🏡🍆🗒️ Tagging @hawkslonggoodbye @exhausteddiaz @heyyoubuckaroo for nuisance reasons.

It's Zinny the froggie Bard and his trusty (if temperamental) steed Hornsburg. Whilst hopping over a pond, Zinny suddenly heard the transcendent sound of a flute, and ever since had seemingly become infatuated with the musical world. Nothing will stop Zinny's quest to discover and play every song in the world at least once, or to play Zinny's instruments in general even when it's a bit indecent!!! I wonder who this 'Maria' is; or perhaps it's the name of Zinny's first lute? Even if you ask, Zinny can't answer, but one thing's for sure; Zinny sure can cook up a good tune.

So, if it's not apparent, I've come up with the idea to do a Froggie for each of the classes. Since bard is my favorite class thus far, and this is probably my absolute favorite kind of frog, it seemed obvious to design Zinny as such 💚🧡💙
