We really don't know a lot about these guys, which is a shame. They are, after all, long term slaves of The Makuta whom have been subject to uncountable atrocities in the process. We know next to nothing about their language, their culture, their religious beliefs or understanding of their cosmos.
Still, I think we can come to some conclusions about their overarching timeline sequence.
Let's get the easy one out of the way in the first post.
The Visorak were created by Makuta Chirox. He was, by all accounts, very pleased with this.
So. What in Karzahni is the Zivon?
For those who don't well remember; the Zivon is a massive scorpion Kaiju which has, on multiple occasions, devoured a majority of the Visorak Horde.
It is a Kaiju so powerful, so unstoppable, so irresistible, that even in a setting as saturated with OP super-warriors as Bionicle, in the tens of thousands of years that The Zivon has existed, the only way anyone has come up with to make it stop laying waste to everything in its path is by trapping it in an alternate dimension.
If “The Zone of Darkness” ever had native life in the past, it doesn’t anymore.
In canon, we are told that the Zivon is the "natural predator" of the Visorak. Now, we learn this long before we learn about the roll of the Makuta in the ecology of the Matoran Universe, and thus the distinctly a-standard way anyone in the setting would consider the concept of a "natural predator."
But suffice to say, by normal definitions the Visorak aren't naturally occurring. So what in the mind of Tren Krom is the Zivon?
Well as many of us will remember, Chirox has a rival.
A more talented, but also genuinely and dangerously unhinged rival.
As I have proposed elsewhere before; creating an enormous, invincible Scorpion Kaiju, which neither he nor anyone else can control, is precisely Makuta Mutran's style.
From this, we may conclude that the Zivon comes second in the timeline.
I’ve always been fascinated by this beast and by the zone of darkness. The stories I’m working on explore the realm quite deeply, and imagine some truly strange things. I hope people dig it.
Part of me thinks Mutran might have been the one who created the Zivon, because he would make something that specifically preys on Visorak, Chirox's greatest achievement, wouldn't he?
But then again, I'm not sure. The Zivon seems a little inelegant for Mutran. Enormous, covered in claws and pincers and Rhotuka launchers with a stinger tail to boot, and destroys everything in sight? I don't know, kaiju doesn't quite seem like his style. Not that the Klakk or Blade Burrower are things of beauty or subtlety, but it feels like there's a greater focus in their designs. And also a purpose, even if Mutran didn't exactly know what that purpose was. Meanwhile the Zivon's purpose is just to wreak havoc.
So, the Zivon. The big scorpion monster that the Visorak only bust out in times of great need because the cost of using it is that it eats like, half of the horde as a victory feast. Give that, there’s no way in hell the Visorak thought that summoning it in Metru Nui, to use against six Hordika and the Rahga was worth the trade, Sidorak questioned the wisdom of it and there’s no way in hell that Roodaka thought that was an ideal solution to bring the Toa’s bodies to her so she could free Makuta. That was very definitely an attempt at undermining Sidorak’s authority in the eyes of the Horde by making it seem like he was loosing his touch at conquest, if these few enemies were giving him enough trouble to summon the Zivon.
It probably would have worked too, if the Toa didn’t have a fucking Tahtorahk in their back pocket. And with only like, three Zivon related deaths, it was probably the most successful summon in the horde’s history. It’s small wonder that assassinating him got a “fuck off and die” response, really.
Welp, i wanted to redesing some of my own stuff and I think Zivon was the perfect candidate.
He is suppoust to be a werebear but in the first desing i think i didn´t made a good job representing that part of him. Not to mention that he colors i chose were kinda... meh. I also changed the size of his paws because it makes him more like a sloth that a bear and... yeah.....icantsleepbyeee.
